WARRENDALE, Pa., April 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- It's no hype that "world" is a big part of the title in SAE 2007 World Congress.

The four-day SAE World Congress completed last week was held in Cobo Center in Detroit and attracted 35,822 attendees from 58 countries. These numbers compare favorably to last year, when attendance totaled 35,114 from 47 nations. For continents excluding North America, Asia led with the most attendees, followed by Europe.
"There is no other automotive technical event anywhere that reaches the caliber of the SAE World Congress, and I think the data illustrates that point well," David L. Amati, Ph.D., Director of SAE International's Global Automotive Business, said. He added that 48 percent of the attendees were engineers, with the top five job codes of those registered in drivetrain, electronics, emissions/environment, materials and safety/testing.

"We were pleased with Original Equipment Manufacturers' and Suppliers' participation as well," Amati continued. "For the OEMs, 18 companies were represented, and nearly all of the 150 Top Suppliers were on-site."

The event was capped by the SAE World Congress banquet speaker Katsuaki Watanabe, President, Toyota Motor Corporation.

Toyota was the host company of the SAE 2007 World Congress, which was chaired by Yasuhiko Ichihashi, the head of all engineering and manufacturing for Toyota North America.

In 2008, DaimlerChrysler will serve as SAE World Congress's host company.
