LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Air Products' (NYSE:APD) mobile hydrogen fueler pulled double duty and showed its versatility in making the short trek from its current base fueling State of New York fuel cell automobiles in Albany, N.Y. to another location in the state's capital city. The relocation to the second fueling area was to provide hydrogen for several automobiles powered by hydrogen fuel cells or hydrogen internal combustion engines participating in public ride and drive demonstrations at the 2nd Annual New Energy Symposium and New York Hydrogen Expo held this week from July 30-31.

"We were pleased to be providing hydrogen for six different models of hydrogen fuel cell powered automobiles or hydrogen internal combustion engine vehicles. It was convenient to have a mobile fueler already close to this Conference in Albany, but this opportunity served to demonstrate the convenience of being able to safely transport this hydrogen fueling technology from location to location for special events or dedicated testing in certain climates or conditions," said Bob Kelly, business development manager-Hydrogen Energy Systems at Air Products. Air Products leads the industry with 21 mobile hydrogen fuelers operating worldwide today.
The Air Products mobile hydrogen fueler comes complete with fueling storage and dispensing, and can be transported from location to location to provide hydrogen fueling for promotional demonstrations or remote endurance testing. The fueler is also used for long-term deployments of vehicles when a permanent fueling station is not available. The fueler can be remotely monitored and is designed to ensure daily, around-the-clock hydrogen vehicle fueling availability.

The event, which offered a chance to share industry trends and opportunities related to emerging energy and environmental technologies, was presented by New Energy New York and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering's (CNSE) Energy and Environmental Technology Applications Center, and sponsored by the New York State Research and Development Authority. It was held at CNSE's Albany NanoTech complex.

Air Products also participated in the Conference as a discussion member on the "National and International Projects Panel." Air Products shared information about its successful hydrogen fueling infrastructure project deployment in both the United States and globally. Air Products has placed over 70 fueling stations on stream in 12 countries, including for mass transit fueling in Beijing, China for buses to be used to shuttle athletes and visitors for the 2008 Olympic Games. Over 36,000 vehicle fuelings worldwide have already taken place using Air Products' technology.

Air Products has more than 50 years of hydrogen experience and is on the forefront of hydrogen energy technology development. As the world's largest supplier of merchant hydrogen, Air Products is a leader in the development of the hydrogen infrastructure necessary to fuel hydrogen fuel cell and hydrogen internal combustion engine automobiles, and HCNG (hydrogen/compressed natural gas) vehicles, and has an extensive patent portfolio with over 50 patents in hydrogen dispensing technology.
