PROTON Football Club Geared Up for the New Season of FAM Cup 2007

19/01/2007 -- Taking on the role of underdogs, the PROTON Football Club ("PROTON FC") today launched its campaign in the TM Liga Malaysia ¨C Piala FAM ("FAM Cup") 2007 sights clearly set on gunning for a winning season.

Encouraged and motivated by a quarterfinal performance in the FAM Cup last season, PROTON FC is confident of an even more determined and successful season this year, following efforts to strengthen its team and line-up.
Formed in 1986, PROTON FC has progressively risen to top level football, establishing a consistent and solid track record by winning the Selangor Dunhill Premier League title three times and twice emerging as Selangor FA Cup champions over the last 10 years.

"With our limited resources, PROTON FC has successfully demonstrated and proven that it is capable of mixing it with the best. We are committed to fulfilling our target of winning as many matches as possible and in moving up into the higher level of competition," said Fauzi Che Rus, the Team Manager of PROTON FC.

With the exception of head coach Razali Alias and psychologist Zaiton Othman who had experience in international competitive sports environment, the entire team is made up of a balanced combination between PROTON staffs and contract players.

"Football has a great way of bringing individuals and various talents together. In the case of PROTON FC, our participation reflects greatly on the company and its commitment to win and persevere."

In addition, the team will also be getting the full support from PROTON community through the members of Proton Football Fan Club, who have given commitment to garner their enthusiasm and high-spirit for success of the team.

"The players and the fan club are looking forward to the championship and at the same time, will ensure that the positive image of the PROTON brand is being observed," added Fauzi.

The FAM Cup is one of the leagues of the national football championships "TM Liga Malaysia", other than the famous Malaysian Super League and Premier League.
