Thursday, March 29, 2007 -- Workers from Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky (TMMK) will speak at a town hall forum on Saturday, March 31, at the Hunter Presbyterian Church at 109 Rosemont Garden in Lexington, Ky.

The topic of the event, which will begin at 2 p.m., is “The Human Cost of Toyota’s Success.”

UAW Vice President Terry Thurman, State Sen. Ernesto Scorsone and the Rev. John Rausch of the Archdiocese of Lexington will hear statements from Toyota workers concerning on-the-job injuries, the increasing use of temporary workers, and other concerns related to compensation and working conditions at the TMMK facility.

“Our union is firmly and fully committed to helping these workers gain justice,” said Thurman, who heads the UAW’s National Organizing Department. “This town hall forum is an opportunity for Toyota workers to share with the community the human cost of Toyota’s success.”
