It can seat from 5 to 8 people. This is the luxurious Eddie Bauer model with full carpeting, colour-keyed door and dash panels, power windows, mirrors and door locks, air conditioning, a tilt steering wheel. First- and second-row occupants get separate heat/vent/air conditioning controls. A curved dashboard displays instruments and controls with an arms reach that may be augmented by a large centre console for extra storage or serve as an armrest for front row passengers. The Eddie Bauer's roof console has a digital display of the driver's choice of date/time, average fuel economy or compass, plus a switch for the power swing-out rear quarter windows. The Expedition has the 5.4 liter engine with a cast-iron cylinder block with aluminium single overhead cam cylinder heads and excellent output. Even today the new fords delivered in Australia come with the same motor. Ford Expedition: Highlights Based on the F-150 pickup truck, Expedition gave Ford a serious challenge in the full-size sport-utility market. Available with either 2- or 4-wheel drive, Expedition was available only with 4-doors and was about five inches longer than a Chevy Tahoe or GMC Yukon. Seating for six was standard in the SLT model. Third seat gave Expedition seating for nine. The second-row bench seat folded flush to the floor, in a simple one-step process. Front captain's chairs went into the top-of-the-line Eddie Bauer edition, for 5-passenger seating. Leather upholstery was standard in the Eddie Bauer, which could also have the optional third seat. Dual airbags, antilock brakes, and height-adjustable shoulder belts for outboard front and second-row seats were standard. Control Trac in 4-wheel-drive models had four drive settings: 2WD, automatic 4WD; 4WD High (for slippery conditions); and 4WD Low (for heavy-duty off-roading).
