The Touareg definitely ranks among the most popular SUVs on the German market. The abbreviation »R« stands for Racing and in this case is a synonym for 470 HP and a maximum torque of 550 Nm. The Abt engineers have developed a supercharger conversion at the highest stage for the V8-standard engine. After the technically demanding and perfected modification through the Bavarian specialists, the Abt Touareg VS8-R delivers an impressive additional output of 160 HP compared with the production version from Wolfsburg. On its preferred terrain, namely roads, the Abt Touareg VS8-R accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds and reaches an electronically regulated top speed of 260 km/h.

The best of technology – this is first and foremost result of the newly developed suspension which grants optimal benefit from the enhanced power of the Abt Touareg VS8-R. This is where the Abt Level Control (ALC) applies. The ALC is an electronically regulated air suspension which enables lowering and various adjustments from extremely sporty to comfortable as well as an optimization of the driving dynamics at the same time. Hence, the Abt Touareg VS8-R can be lowered to as much as 40 millimetres, though improved driving dynamics is more crucial. The vehicle responds extremely precise and can be handled effortlessly. The final look of the beholder is on the new Abt light alloy wheels AR fitted on the Abt Touareg VS8-R which are celebrating world premiere at the IAA 2005. The new diamond-machined wheel in the size 10x22 inch with its modern shapely five-spoke design is fitted on tyres size 295/30 of technology partner Continental, guaranteeing optimal contact between power and asphalt.
