The Audi A3 (up 19 percent to 85,900 units) continues to feature among the models with the highest growth rates worldwide in the first four months. Sales of the Audi A4 Cabriolet rose by 4.3 percent to 9,650 vehicles. The Audi A6 posted an increase of 42 percent to 79,400 models sold. Sales of the Audi A8 totalled some 8,000 units, up 19 percent. And just under 6,300 Audi Q7 models have been handed over to customers since the launch of this vehicle. Ralph Weyler, Board Member for Marketing and Sales at AUDI AG, commented: “In the first quarter, Audi was the market leader worldwide in the premium segment with the A6. The success of our models demonstrates that we have made significant strides in terms of our volume and sales structure.†The Chinese market recorded the highest growth rate of all from January to April: a total of 26,636 vehicles were sold, more than double the figure achieved in the same period last year (12,867). A significant increase was also recorded in April, with model sales up 70 percent to 7,475 units. Sales in Europe also went up considerably: Audi handed over 227,500 vehicles to their new owners in the first four months, an increase of 6.5 percent. With a total of 56,900 models sold in April, vehicle sales attained similar heights to last year (57,187). In the USA, 25,296 models were sold between January and April (24,037). This represents a growth rate of 5.2 percent. The total for April was 7,412 (7,202), an increase of almost 3 percent. Ralph Weyler stated: “These positive figures mean that we feel that our product and sales strategy has been endorsed, since Audi has achieved significant growth both in established markets and in new markets in Asia and Eastern Europe. But there’s still plenty of potential for achieving more.†*) prior-year figures in brackets Source: Audi |
