“Figures for all models were very good in the first five months. We are particularly pleased with the success of the luxury-class models, the Audi A6, A8 and Q7. There are new records in almost every country,” commented Ralph Weyler, Member of the Board for Marketing and Sales at AUDI AG. Sales in Europe excluding Germany have also risen significantly: in the first five months of the year, Audi handed over 181,900 vehicles to customers, an increase of 7.5 per cent. In May, sales were up by 8,3 per cent to 36,400 units. Markets with the highest growth rates include Russia, Italy and Belgium. In Germany, the domestic market, Audi increased sales in the first five months by 4.4 per cent to 105,550 units. In May, 23,586 vehicles were sold in Germany, a rise of 2 per cent. The sharpest growth in the first five months was recorded in the Chinese market: with 32,568 vehicles sold and growth of 97.7 per cent, last year’s result was almost doubled. In May, too, a clear increase of 64.5 per cent was achieved, with 5,932 models handed over.
