The 2006 Infiniti Lineup – Charting the Changes

Infiniti set a third consecutive sales record in 2005 and surpassed the 1 million mark in cumulative sales since its inception in 1989. In 2006, Infiniti ushers in yet another exciting product lineup, led by the vibrant, all-new Infiniti M. New to the lineup for 2006, the Infiniti M is positioned between the award-winning G35 sedan and the Q45 premium luxury sedan. The recipient of numerous media accolades, the M is a true harmony of sensuous styling, engaging technology and driving excitement.
In addition to the M, Infiniti continues to refine its lineup. The Infiniti FX gets an exterior facelift, added standard interior features and the FX45 gets the Premium Package contents as standard equipment; the G35 sedan offers Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone system; the G35 coupe adds a new Premium Package with Intelligent Key and available Rear Active Steer; Q45 gets a new Sport model with Rear Active Steer, revised transmission with new torque converter and Rev Matching and available Lane Departure Warning; and the QX56 features a new 60/40 split 3rd row seat, power folding mirrors with heat and power adjust and Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone system.

In 2006, as always, Infiniti remains one of the leaders in the automotive industry in the development of new automotive technology, including the advanced ATTESA E-TSâ„¢ all-wheel drive system utilized in the new M35x, FX and G35x sedan, RearView Monitor, Intelligent Key, Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Active Steer, Pre-Crash Seat Belts and many other systems.

Following is an overview of the Infiniti Division products for the 2006 model year:

Infiniti M Luxury Performance Sedan

The 2006 M, which went on sale in February 2005, optimizes both luxury and sport styling to create a dynamic visual appeal. The exterior design features a low, aggressive hoodline, which flows into the anchored shoulders and contributes to the sporty, powerful silhouette. Inside, the interior is highly expressive, combining a driver-oriented cockpit with luxurious design and an attention to detail.

At the heart of the Infiniti M is the high-performance power of a choice of advanced V8 or V6 engines, with the vehicles badged M45 or M35 accordingly. The M45 features the 4.5-liter DOHC V8 currently used in the Infiniti Q45 and FX45. For use in the M45, it produces 335* horsepower. The M35 is powered by a 3.5-liter DOHC engine producing 280 horsepower. Both the M45 V8 and M35 V6 are mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission with short-throw performance shifter, manual shift mode and Rev Matching.

Advanced technology is abundant on the Infiniti M – starting with a new Rear Active Steer system (Sport model), which helps improve vehicle handling performance by adjusting the rear suspension geometry according to steering input and vehicle speed. Also featured on the Infiniti M is a new available Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system, which helps warn the driver of a pending, unintended lane departure.

Highlights of the 2006 M include:
· Sporty, luxurious design
· Many standard features including, Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, voice recognition, leather-appointed seats and power-sliding sunroof
· Enhanced, next generation FM (Front Mid-ship) platform with 60 percent of the platform design and components enhanced for use with the M
· 32-valve 4.5-liter DOHC V8 producing 335 horsepower; 24-valve DOHC 3.5-liter V6 producing 280 horsepower
· 5-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with manual shift mode and Rev Matching
· Power-assisted steering system
· 19-inch wheels and high-performance tires (Sport model)
· Inviting interior with use of genuine aluminum (Sport model) or Rosewood trim and leather appointments
· Large cabin space, able to fit five adult passengers comfortably
· Available DVD-based Infiniti Navigation System with voice-activated destination entry
· Available Bose® Studio Surround™ sound system with digital 5.1-channel decoding and 14 speakers, including two personal speakers mounted in the shoulders of each front seat
· Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone system
· Available Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system with cancel switch and Pre-Crash Seat Belts
· Standard RearView Monitor with on-screen tracking guideline
· Available Mobile Entertainment System
· Premium Package with rear power reclining seats
· Advanced Air Bag System (AABS)

Infiniti FX Premium Crossover SUV

The FX is again available in both FX45 and FX35 designations. The all-wheel drive FX45 comes with a standard 320-horsepower 4.5-liter DOHC V8 (based on the Infiniti Q45 powerplant) and includes 20-inch wheels and tires, leather-appointed seats and a sport-tuned 4-wheel independent suspension. The FX35 features a 280-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 and is available in all-wheel or rear-wheel drive. All FX models utilize a modified version of the advanced FM (Front Mid-ship) platform, enhanced for SUV duties. The FX continues to offer the advanced Lane Departure Warning system.

For 2006, FX gets an exterior facelift with new grille, bumper, wheel design and three new colors. In addition, all 2006 FX models add numerous standard features, including a 300-watt Bose® audio system, RearView Monitor, Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) and more. The 2006 FX35 adds leather seating surfaces with heated front seats, 10-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support and 8-way power passenger’s seat. Additional features include driver’s seat memory and power tilt/telescope steering wheel. And the FX45 adds the Premium Package contents as standard features for 2006.

Enhancements to the 2006 FX45/FX35 include:
· Premium Package contents are now standard on FX45:
- Sunroof
- Auto on/off headlamps
- Aluminum roof rails
- Cargo net and cover
- Universal Garage Door Opener (UGDO)
· Standard RearView Monitor
· Standard Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone system on FX45 models
· Standard leather seating surfaces, 10-way power driver’s seat with adjustable power lumbar support and driver memory, 8-way power passenger’s seat (FX35)
· Standard power tilt/telescope steering wheel (FX35)
· Standard 300-watt, 11-speaker BoseÒ audio sound system with 6-disc CD autochanger, MP3-CD playback and steering wheel audio controls
· Heated outside mirrors (FX35)
· New center console design
· New Electroluminescent gauges
· Added Wheat interior color
· New aluminum and wood trim finish (FX45)
· New front grille and front bumper design
· New 18-inch (FX35) and 20-inch (FX45) wheel designs
· Revised suspension tuning with new shock absorbers
· Three new exterior colors – Liquid Platinum, Serengeti Sand and Orange
· Advanced Air Bag System (AABS)
· Available satellite radio with choice of XM or Sirius
· New Run-Flat Tire Package
· Hands-Free Package with Intelligent Key available on FX35 models (standard on FX45)

Infiniti Q45 Premium Luxury Sedan

Infiniti’s flagship premium luxury sedan, the powerful and elegant Q45, has been refined for the new model year with a new Sport Model with Rear Active Steer, revised transmission, added Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone system and available Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system. Rear Active Steer helps improve the Infiniti Q’s handling performance by adjusting the rear suspension geometry according to steering input and vehicle speed. The result is sports car-like agility, combined with luxury stability and ride quality.

As in previous years, the 2006 Infiniti Q continues to provide a vast array of standard and available performance and technology features, including a 340-horsepower V8 engine, voice-activated controls, an Infiniti DVD Navigation System with Birdview and DVD database, vehicle information system with 7-inch color LCD color screen, RearView Monitor and one of the most powerful headlight systems in the world. Also available are climate controlled seats, Intelligent Cruise Control with Preview Braking, Pre-Crash Seat Belts and heated, reclining rear seats (Premium Package).

Enhancements to the 2006 Q45 include:
· New Sport Model with Rear Active Steer, sport suspension and 19-inch high-performance wheels and tires
· Revised transmission with wider gear spacing, new torque converter design and final drive and Rev Matching
· Standard Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone system
· Lane Departure Warning added to the Premium Package

Infiniti G35 Sport Sedan

The 2006 G35 continues to express Infiniti’s bold direction of combining leading-edge design and technology, driver-oriented performance and a long list of luxury amenities. The G35 sedan features a standard 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 280 horsepower and 270 ft-lb of torque. The G35 6MT model with close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission is tuned to generate 298 horsepower.

The 2006 G35 sedan adds minor features.

Enhancements to the 2006 G35 Sedan include:
· Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone system and satellite radio added to all Premium Packages
· New exterior color – Liquid Platinum

Infiniti G35 Sport Coupe

The Infiniti G35 coupe, since its introduction in 2003, has offered sports coupe lovers a powerful, rear-wheel drive performer – one that combines a racing-inspired platform and advanced technology, all draped under a sensuous, aerodynamic body. For the 2006 model year, the G35 coupe continues to add refinements, including new bi-xenon headlights and revised taillights, additions to the Premium Package and a new color.

The foundation for all models is the G35’s standard 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine. The advanced engine design, part of the award-winning VQ engine series, produces a standard 280 horsepower, while the G35 Coupe 6MT model generates 298 horsepower.

Enhancements to the 2006 G35 Coupe include:
· Standard projector-beam bi-xenon headlights
· Revised taillights
· Sport-Tuned Suspension Package adds a unique front fascia and side sills and new optional rear spoiler (standard on G35 Coupe 6MT)
· Aluminum accent ring added to the door panel speakers
· New exterior color – Liquid Platinum
· Available Rear Active Steer, vehicle-speed-sensitive power steering, and 15.1:1 steering gear ratio
· New Premium Package adds Intelligent Key, Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone system and driver’s seat and steering wheel memory plus automatic entry/exit assist (5AT only)
· Premium Package for G35 Coupe models add Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone system and driver’s seat and steering wheel memory

Infiniti QX56 Full-Size Luxury SUV

The Infiniti QX56 full-size luxury SUV enters the 2006 model year with minor enhancements – most notably the addition of power folding outside mirrors with heat, power adjust and turn signal to the vehicle’s extensive list of standard technology and convenience features.

Every QX56 comes equipped with a standard 5.6-liter DOHC 32-valve V8 engine, producing 315 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, mated to a refined 5-speed automatic transmission. All QX56 all-wheel drive models feature an advanced, All-Mode 4WD full-time design with infinitely variable torque split (maximum 50:50 front/rear).

The 2006 Infiniti QX56 also offers bold, advanced exterior and interior styling, with a large, Infiniti-style grille, xenon headlamps and LED taillight treatment, along with a sophisticated and refined look and feel inside.

Enhancements to the 2006 QX56 include:
· Standard power folding outside mirrors with heat, power adjust and integrated turn signal
· Added 60/40 split 3rd row seat
· Sound system with ability to play MP3 CDs
· Standard Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone system
