JE Design Seat Leon 1 P Review

August 2005
Filed under: JEDESIGN Car News | JEDESIGN Headlines
After making a few tasteful modifications to the new Leon as early as two months before the official launch, Leingarten-based tuner JE DESIGN, known for its SEAT refinements, has now subjected the Spanish car to some far more extensive modifications.
The mainstay of the modifications lies in the output boost of the 2.0 TDI engine. It now boasts a solid 130 kW (176 PS) output instead of 103 kW (140 PS). The torque has increased by 85 Nm to 405 Nm. These modifications to the engine management enable improved road performance: 214 km/h top speed (Series: 205 km/h) and from 0 to 100 in 8.3 seconds (Series: 9.3) leave no room for doubt! The performance enhancement includes a TÜV (MOT) parts inspection. It goes without saying that the TDI continues to comply with emissions regulations. The modification includes a 1-year guarantee on the engine, drive and transmission. On request, the guarantee can be extended by a further year against payment of an extra charge. A performance improvement for the new 2.0 TFSI with 136 KW / 185 PS is currently being worked on.

JE-DESIGN headlamp visors and a sporty front spoiler give the Seat Leon that extra clout when it comes to overtaking. In addition, the rear now impresses thanks to the new skirt, which features a recess for a central stainless steel twin end pipe from JE DESIGN. The end pipe measures 135 x 95mm and, following adjustment, can also be used in connection with the standard rear skirt. JE DESIGN optimised the side view with a side skirt set. In addition, you can also order the self-adhesive JE-DESIGN matt black “Shark attack” roof fin.

The growing popularity of chrome has also left its mark in JE DESIGN’s Leon product range. It includes, in addition to a four-piece door handle faceplate set, the B-column decoration “3 D Chrome” with chrome inserts and a rear door lining as well as the decorative lining for the rear part of the tailgate.

Customers can choose from five different wheelsets. The highlight of the offer, measuring 17, 18 and 19 inches, is the chrome “Multispoke” wheelset measuring 8.0 x 19 ET 45 with 225/35 R 19 Y tyres.

JE DESIGN also sees to it that the Seat Leon doesn’t waste its power. The chassis programme culminates in a coilover suspension kit that can vary the ground clearance of the racy Spaniard between 35 and 65 mm. Alternatively, the tuner offers a more sporty road performance starting from in the form of sports springs. If desired, the continuous lag from high speeds can be guaranteed by a 4-piston sports brake system (330 x 28 mm) on the front axle.
