“The Lexus GS range - until now - has perhaps been our best kept secret” says Ian Mathews, Product Manager for Lexus in Europe. “The original gs300 did not benefit from the clear-cut perception of the LS and IS, but the latest generation has been much more successful.
“Between the launch of the gs300 in August 1993 and the end of 2000, we will have sold around 20,000 GS models in Europe. 8,700 were sold in 1998/99 alone, after the launch of the latest generation. It has been a significant builder of both volume and awareness for the Lexus brand. It also meets the prime Lexus requirement of meeting every level of customer expectation. “On one hand it has distinctive looks and an aggressive sporting appearance. On the other, it has the levels of equipment and refinement associated with a luxury car. And now, the arrival of gs430 adds more passion to the Lexus brand, with a great driving experience.

“The gs430 represents a huge opportunity for Lexus. A car like this adds emotion to the Lexus brand. It provides a unique driving experience, and perfectly accompanies the gs300, is200 and new ls430 and rx300 models.
