Its completely new hybrid system is based on the Hybrid Synergy Drive concept and designed specifically for the RX400h. It employs front and rear electric motors and a 3.3 litre, V6 petrol engine, which combine to produce a maximum power output of approximately 200kW/270DIN hp(*) via seamless, continually variable automatic transmission and 'intelligent' electric 4-wheel drive.
This gives the RX400h a comparable top speed to that of the existing RX300, but overall performance superiority thanks to class leading acceleration figures of 0-100kph/62mph in less than 8 seconds. Furthermore, with fuel consumption figures more usually associated with a family car than a luxury SUV, the RX400h boasts the lowest Premium SUV CO2 emissions in the world.

The handling and driving stability have been further enhanced through re-tuned suspension. EPS (Electronic Power Steering) and VDM (Vehicle Dynamics Management, the most advanced vehicle stability control system on the market) are available on the car.

The RX400h will already be on the market during the first quarter of 2005.
