Mattig Golf V Review

February 2005
Filed under: MATTIG Car News | MATTIG Headlines
The company Mattig GmbH is presenting a range of tuning components for the Golf V and is once again underscoring why it ranks amongst the best known specialists in the car styling scene.
The front end of the Golf V is sure to impress by fitting either the Racing 1 or Racing 2 front spoiler in conjunction with the new honeycomb grille. In addition, Mattig is also offering a radiator grille without a brand badge.

The contouring of the front end is continued on the sides by fitting the newly designed side steps. Furthermore, a sports mirror has been fitted, which is available in 3 versions. The rear end equipped with the striking rear apron and the new honeycomb grille like the one fitted on the front combine to create a truly stylish finish. One trend there is no escaping from this season are the LSD gullwing-style doors, which suit the Mattig Golf V down to the ground. For drivers who like to be incognito when out in their cars, they can buy themselves the “Mattig stick-on badge” in either a 50 mm or 75 mm diameter. The badge is made from flexible plastic and is easy to apply simply by peeling off the adhesive protective foil on the rear. Other body-styling components such as headlight screens and covers, rear light covers and a range of rear spoilers are in preparation and are due to be released in the course of 2005.

A Bilstein coilover suspension brings the Golf V around 45 mm closer to the road and guarantees enhanced handling properties. An earthy sound is produced by a stainless steel 4-branch exhaust system with chunky 80 mm tailpipes.

To give the Golf a stylish appearance to match all round, it has been kitted out with 19-inch alloy wheels from ARTEC in various versions fitted with 235/35 R19 Kumho tyres.

To enhance the interior, the Mattig range includes various sports steering wheels (with airbag) in addition to coloured leather gear-lever knobs and handbrake levers. For the footwell, Mattig supplies aluminium floor mats, which are laser-cut from high-grade aluminium and which have an absolutely clean and burr-free edge. To eliminate virtually any possibility of slipping in the footwell, a great deal of attention has been paid to ensuring an absolutely perfect fit when developing these mats. The special highlight for the interior are the new performance instruments such as the boost gauge, oil pressure gauge, oil temperature gauge, water temperature gauge, vacuum gauge and voltmeter in addition to the rev counter in various sizes with or without gearshift indicator.
