MHW Mini Review

January 2005
Filed under: MHW Car News | MHW Headlines
With the Mini Cooper S, which, in addition to the numerous technical and appearance-enhancing accessories, is fitted with spectacular gullwing doors, MHW car dynamic is presenting a true tuning highlight.
A power boost achieved by means of chip tuning in conjunction with a high-performance header and a metal catalytic converter increases the basic performance from 163 bhp to approx. 220 bhp.

Besides the spectacular gullwing doors, a body kit consisting of a front spoiler with a grille, a matching rear apron for the centre exhaust plus a three-section roof spoiler go to give the Mini a stunning visual appearance. This appearance is further enhanced by the 10-section MHW wheel arch extensions, the MHW 3D-style stop lights with frames painted in the same colour of the car and the MHW LED side indicators with a chrome-finish ventilation grille.

A KW coilover suspension gives the car agile road holding properties and, thanks to a FunTech twin-branch exhaust system, the Mini also produces an appropriate sound to match its appearance. To ensure that the Mini comes to a safe halt, it has been fitted at the front with 6-piston brake callipers with two-piece brake discs and at the rear with two-piece 380 mm brake discs.

In the interior, universal roadster safety roll-over bars from MHW fitted at the rear headrests go to create a visual highlight. In addition, the Mini is equipped with an MHW retrofit ParkPilot system with front and rear sensors, which, for the first time, is activated in relation to the speed of the vehicle. The system is rounded off by an MHW micro-reversing camera with a viewing angle of 153°. A colour monitor built into the rear-view mirror displays the happenings recorded with this camera. Last but not least, the Mini also features an MHW head-up display, which projects the speed display digitally into the driver’s angle of vision on the windscreen. Other interior components that have been fitted include a carbon dashboard trim, a gear-lever knob with an Inox leather gaiter and a vehicle-specific steering wheel cover in perforated, black leather with integrated, silver Inox leather. The seats, with the exception of the side bolsters that feature silver leather, are also upholstered in perforated, black leather. What is more, silver-painted sports seat buckets have been fitted.
