Engine weight reduction and performance maximization are both challenging goals for all automotive engineers. In the past, these two criteria seem to be mutually exclusive to achieve; however, through the relentless efforts and close cooperation with the world-leading engine development consulting group, LUXGEN has successfully developed the 2.2L MEFI ( Multi-Electronic-Fuel-Injection)TURBO engine designed to achieve the seemingly impossible. “I was truly surprised when I first read the 2.2L MEFI TURBO engine project, said Hidaka Yoshiaki, the engine design consultant. “For achieving both high output and reliable engine performance, the engineering process and required precision would therefore be more complicated. By collaborating with LMM (Le Moteur Moderne), the world-famous engine engineering expert, LUXGEN 2.2L MEFI TURBO engine can generate 175HP at 6,000rpm plus an outstanding 28kgm of torque spanning from 2,500 to 4,000rpm range. The torque performance is comparable to a typical 3.0L engine, a testimony of this engines excellent performance and efficiency. LUXGEN technical team seeks cooperation with Garrett, the world leading turbocharger manufacturer, to utilise a high efficiency turbocharger specifically designed for the LUXGEN 2.2L MEFI engine. The end result is a small and light weight engine capable of an almost plateau-like torque curve and excellent performance. The maximum torque of 28kgm remains constant between 2500rpm to 4000rpm to enhances both performance and driving enjoyment.

In spite of its impressive performance, LUXGEN 2.2L MEFI TURBO engine also features high fuel efficiency and low emission pollution to minimise its adverse impact to the environmental. By utilising aluminium alloy for the engines construction, LUXGEN 2.2L MEFI TURBO engine weights only 135kg, or roughly 13% lighter than engines with same displacement. And benefiting from the excellent heat dissipation characteristics of the aluminium alloy, the engine operating efficiency could therefore be maximised.

In addition, the reverse-mounting configuration of the engine facilitates improved emission performance by positioning the Engines intake in front, allowing colder air to be ingested to improve the intake efficiency. Meanwhile, rear facing exhaust ports allow the catalyst converter to be positioned closer for quicker catalyst warm up to reduce emission. Mr. Olivier Soustelle, the engine tuning consultant, says that: “Due to the comprehensive support received from world-leading automotive engineering experts during its development, the quality of LUXGEN 2.2L MEFI TURBO engine is thus without a doubt. Through its outstanding performance, impressive efficiency and eco-friendly low emissions fully complying with the Euro 4 emission standard, LUXGEN 2.2L MEFI TURBO engine strikes a fine balance between performance, efficiency and emission to become the new benchmark for modern engine design and engineering.
