Steinmetz Astra GTC Review

Opel's performance heritage is re-awakened in the STEINMETZ Astra GTC. For every enthusiastic driver, the Astra GTC by Steinmetz is a real source of fun, enjoyment and sporting performance. Lowered, with 19“ wheels, the Steinmetz Astra GTC harmoniously combines a complete aerodynamic package with the Opel in Sports mode, making the car even more agile at the touch of a button.

Engine:

There is currently a choice of eight engines from Opel. For three of the new ECOTEC engines, performance upgrades have been developed which give the Steinmetz Astra GTC even better driving dynamics.
The diesel power plants 1.7 CDTI with 100 HP as standard, and the 1.9 CDTI with 150 HP, can be fitted with an extra control module. The programming ensures that the performance upgrade can be used on vehicles both with and without soot particle filter. In all cases, Euro 4 standard is maintained.

The third engine is the turbo, developing 200 HP as standard. Here the standard control module is reprogrammed.

Exhaust:

Characteristic of Steinmetz are the bright polished, trapezoid twin rear tailpipes. On the left or left/right, their unmistakeable appearance and sound leave nothing to be desired and are incredibly well fitting. Optionally the twin tailpipe can be fitted both with and without rear skirt.

Lowering / Suspension:

Lowered by 30 mm, the Astra GTC is crouched ready for action. Safety and uncompromising driving pleasure are at the forefront of the set-up. Both the standard suspension and IDS plus suspension with Sports Mode are taken into account. The Steinmetz springs lower the centre of gravity of the Astra, which reduces the roll tendency on cornering and allows faster direction changes. Driving the road becomes a pleasurable experience, and you simply won't want to stop.

Wheel/tyre combination:

Much of the Astra GTC's sporting appearance is down to the Steinmetz alloy wheels in two different designs. Firstly the Type ST1 with closed spokes and secondly the Type ST3, available in 19" in silver and also in Shadow silver. Steinmetz recommends tyres by Michelin or Continental.
