May 2005
Filed under: STOLA Car News | STOLA Headlines
This is a very important year for Stola S.p.A. as it marks our 85 th year in business, to highlight this significant milestone for our Company we are presenting the S 85 prototype at this year's prestigious Geneva Motor Show.

S 85 is based on the Lancia Thesis and clearly demonstrates Stola's expertise in the manufacture of the highest quality prototypes, while emphasizing Turin's unique tradition of coach building. S 85 also pays tribute to the special relationship we have with Lancia, that relationship began in 1919 when they commissioned us to manufacture the Lambda show car and it was our 1 st year in business. With this particular prototype we have given particular focus to the full utilization of CAE virtual simulating (reaching) to achieve the following:

•Maximum use of current body structure;
•Maintance of high level of structural rigidity without the significant loss of torsional performance normally associated with long wheelbase vehicles;
•Optimal utilisation of interior package space.

EXTERIOR DESIGN

The main visual difference from the standard car is the overall length with an increase of 600mm, but this as been achieved without the profiling defects of traditional limousines, we revised all upper and side surfaces including glass and interior roof trim in three axes in order to achieve a total harmious and cohesive form rather than a typical “stretched look”. The superb two tone amaranth colour scheme was chosen to allude to the popular tradition limousines of the Thirties and Forties and was achieved using the bicolour pain system.

INTERIOR DESIGN

The interior of this prototype is very sophisticated. Flawless, attention to detail combined with beautiful surfaces as created an incredibly exclusive feel. The rear floor is completely flat and finished in wood, all interior coverings are in Frau leather, rear seats are fully adjustable, the interior is well appointed with numerous accessories including special diffused lighting, drinks cooler and the sophisticated LWD Mobile Car System engineered and produced by Informatica Delta S.p.A.. The system is a “portable travel solution” extremely, comprehensive and suitable for any professional need, besides the GPS equipment, it allows for total office application guaranteeing connection to Internet and Company, it can send and receive Emails and faxes globally. In terms of in car entertainment it also allows for Dvd Movies, video games and Cd's or MP3 files.

This custom-built car can be produced, on request, according to the customer's personal requirements, including armour plating.
