R.L. Polk Ranks Suzuki Ahead of All Other Manufacturers in 2004 Sales Percentage Growth Review

BREA, Calif. (March 18, 2005) - R.L. Polk has ranked Suzuki ahead of all other auto manufacturers selling vehicles in the United States in percentage increase of new-vehicle registrations in 2004.

According to the most recent report by the automotive information provider, Suzuki new-vehicle registrations increased 47.8 percent in 2004 over 2003 - the largest percentage increase of all automotive brands in the United States.

Suzuki registered more than 20 percentage points above the manufacturer with the second-highest percentage increase, Chrysler, at 27.7 percent. Rounding out the top ten automotive brands in new-vehicle registrations in 2004 were Nissan at 27.2 percent, Acura at 17.3 percent, Porsche at 11.8 percent, Toyota at 11.0 percent, Lexus at 10.8 percent, Cadillac at 10.5 percent, BMW at 8.9 percent and Infiniti at 8.6 percent.

Suzuki saw its 2004 new-vehicle registrations rise most dramatically in Charleston, S.C. (1,558 percent); St. Louis (409 percent); Charlotte, N.C. (244 percent); Columbus, Ohio (236 percent); Salt Lake City (143 percent); Harrisburg, Pa. (108 percent); Oklahoma City (106 percent); Fort Meyers, Fla. (89 percent); Chicago (81 percent); and Los Angeles (79 percent).

The information above was based on R. L. Polk & Co. retail data for CYE 2003 and CYE 2004, for OEM's with at least 2000 registrations.
