FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., July 3, 2006 – Hyundai Motor America announced sales of 44,508 vehicles for the month, which was Hyundai’s all-time record sales month. Hyundai sales are up 4.3% year over year, and 3.4% over last June on the strength of an almost entirely new model line up.
The new-for-’06 Hyundai Azera and Sonata sedans have set a fast pace for sales in the first half of the year. In June, Sonata sales improved by 37%, and the Azera beat its predecessor in the large sedan segment, the XG 350, by 68%. The Accent was up 43% with the addition of the all-new ’07 3-door Accent arriving in the show rooms earlier this month. The Hyundai model line up will be infused with new vehicles in the second half of the year with the all-new ’07 Santa Fe crossover and ’07 Elantra compact sedan hitting show rooms in the next few months.

“The first half of 2006 was the most successful start to a year in Hyundai history,” said Mark Barnes, vice president, National Sales, Hyundai Motor America. “New models will continue to arrive in our dealerships during the second half of the year so we are well positioned to set a new all-time record for the brand.”

All Hyundai vehicles sold in the U.S. are covered by The Hyundai Advantage, America’s Best Warranty. Hyundai buyers are protected by a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, a 7-year/unlimited-mile anti-perforation warranty and 5-year/unlimited-mile roadside assistance protection.
