Powertrains – Improved Fuel Ef?ciency, Less CO 2 and now with Automatic Transmission

MZR 2.0-litre petrol engine thoroughly revised:

Now includes sequential valve timing (S-VT) for increased combustion ef?ciency, and electric throttle for lively pedal response
New oxygen sensor for optimal emission control
107 kW/146 PS at 6,500 rpm
Maximum torque of 185 Nm now available at a lower engine speed of 4,000 rpm (500 rpm earlier than before)
Consumes 0.3 litres (4 percent) less fuel per 100 km and produces 11 g/km less CO 2
New six-speed manual transmission as standard
First for Mazda5, five-speed automatic transmission (optional)
MZR 1.8-litre petrol carried over:

85 kW/115 PS at 5,300 rpm, 165 Nm at 4,000 rpm
uses 0.3 litres (4 percent) less fuel per 100 km and produces 8 g/km less CO 2
MZR-CD 2.0-litre common-rail turbo diesel in two derivatives:

Standard Power (81 kW/110 PS at 3,500 rpm and 310 Nm at 2,000 rpm)
High Power (105 kW/143 PS at 3,500 rpm and 360 Nm at 2,000 rpm)
Both derivatives use 0.2 litres (3 percent) less fuel per 100 km and produce 11 g/km less CO 2
Driving Dynamics & Safety – Suspension Updates for even more Stability

Improved rear end stability with a new rear suspension forward lateral link position
Brake booster optimised for improved brake pedal response and feedback
New 12 LED rear lamps that are even brighter, come on quicker and use less energy*
