The MINI Models. More popular than ever before – MINI. MINI cars remain extremely popular and in great demand the world over. Indeed, through its versatile model range the MINI brand has become a genuine synonym in recent years for attractive and highly popular cars in the small premium segment. Looking at production this year of the 750,000th MINI ever since the launch of the car in 2001, we see that this unique show-stopper from Oxford remains just as popular as ever. MINI cars are currently sold in more than 70 markets the world over. The MINI’s main sales markets are Great Britain, the USA, and Germany. MINI – individual and versatile. Thanks to a wide range of fresh colours, sophisticated surface trim and materials, chic upholstery in both cloth and leather, as well as countless options, even the most discerning purchaser is able to create his or her most personal, individual MINI with that unique customised touch. And four-cylinder engines developing superior power ranging from 88 hp/65 kW all the way to 170 hp/125 kW give the MINI fan all the performance and motoring pleasure he or she rightly expects. Driving pleasure and safety of the highest standard. The ingenious drive concept in conjunction with powerful engines as well as the sophisticated chassis and suspension with its multi-arm rear axle and anti-roll bars front and rear are the guarantee for that unique go-kart feeling, superior agility and driving pleasure on the road. All MINI models – whether with a fixed roof or in Convertible guise – fulfil the world’s strictest safety standards and offer the very best in occupant safety. Apart from driving pleasure, unmistakable design, top-quality finish and a wide range of standard features, the car’s superior reliability is another reason for the immense popularity of this four-seater athlete. In 2004 the MINI achieved a top position in the breakdown and repair statistics of ADAC, Europe’s largest motoring club, for the second time in a row. MINI Seven, MINI Park Lane, MINI Checkmate. The MINI driver is a genuine individualist. Which is reason enough for MINI to further emphasise the particular character of its cars. Precisely this is why, starting in October, the MINI family is being enhanced by three new models in unique design and with their own unique personality: the MINI Seven, MINI Park Lane, and MINI Checkmate. An attractive trio for every taste. The three new models take up an old and highly appreciated tradition of the brand, focusing on the personal wishes and preferences of very different but highly selective customer groups. Coming with a wide range of features, all three models offer even more MINI at attractive prices. Exclusive paintwork in new metallic colours, new light-alloy wheels, upholstery, design features and interior trim all underline the unique character of each and every car. In finding the names for the new models, MINI also took up a great tradition of the “old” MINI. The MINI Seven, for example, is an up-to-date interpretation of the “great-grandfather” of all MINIs, the Austin Seven, presented by Alec Issigonis back in 1959 and briefly thereafter re-named the “MINI”. The new MINI Park Lane, in turn, has its name from an exclusive special version of the “old” MINI built in 1987. The sporting MINI Checkmate, finally, owes its name to a Special Edition model introduced back in 1990. The MINI Seven lifestyle model. Available in the guise of the MINI One, the MINI One D, and the MINI Cooper, this car comes exclusively in Solar Red, a brand-new metallic colour. Opting for the MINI Cooper Seven, the customer can have the roof and exterior mirrors finished either in body colour, in White or Black, as well as Silver, a new contrasting colour. The roof of the MINI One Seven, in turn, is always finished in body colour and the exterior mirror caps come in Black. MINI One D The striking number “7“ on the side walls of the car shows the observer from the start that this MINI is a very special model. Apart from new Delta Spoke 15-inch light-alloy wheels, foglamps and white direction indicators, a roof spoiler (not on the diesel model) highlights the car’s self-confident and powerful appearance. The circular logo characteristic of the MINI Seven is not only to be found on the black seat upholstery of the car specific to this model, but is also a striking design feature highlighting the interior trim in its new style and finish. MINI Seven Over an above the features already mentioned, the wide range of standard equipment offered by the MINI Seven includes highlights such as a leather steering wheel, air conditioning, ASC+T, radio Wave, an on-board computer, a lights and storage package, as well as height-adjustable seats for the driver and front passenger. Exclusivity in a compact body – MINI Park Lane. With its stylish design, high-quality materials such as leather and chrome in first-class finish, as well as a wide range of standard equipment, the MINI Park Lane meets even the strictest demands, The MINI Park Lane also available in the new Royal Grey metallic colour comes in all model variants of the brand. MINI Park Lane The sophisticated paintwork is particularly impressive in conjunction with the roof in Silver, the new contrasting colour available on the MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S. Indeed, this twin-tone effect is further highlighted by the roof spoiler (not available on the diesel model), the Chrome Line exterior, the chrome-plated mirror caps, as well as the stylish Bridge Spoke 16-inch light-alloy wheels. The seats finished in Panther Black leather in new pipe design, together with the interior surfaces painted in body colour, the twin-tone leather steering wheel and the Chrome Line interior, create a perfectly balanced, sophisticated ambience within the car. Air conditioning featured as standard, in turn, provides optimum climate control. Placing the emphasis on understatement, the MINI Park Lane bears only discreet signs of distinction outside, such as its name on the door entry strips, on the B-pillars and at the front above the side direction indicators highlighting the car’s special status. But the discerning purchaser looking for more powerful signs of distinction can also opt for bonnet stripes in Silver providing a further highlight on the car. Over and above the equipment already mentioned, ASC+T, foglamps, white direction indicators, the Boost CD radio, an on-board computer, the lights and storage package, as well as the driver’s and front passenger’s seats adjustable for height all come as standard. The sporting performer – MINI Checkmate. Particularly sporting in its style and appearance, the MINI Checkmate is available in the guise of both the MINI Cooper and the MINI Cooper S. Silver 17-inch wheels in Flame Spoke design, the starter and chequered flag pattern on the two front side panels, the roof in contrasting colour, and the mirror caps in Silver all round off the car’s exclusive paintwork in Space Blue in a truly perfect manner. Matching the roof in contrasting colour together with the roof spoiler, there is now also an optional, newly designed U-shaped bonnet stripe in Silver. Within the sporting but elegant interior, surfaces in Space Blue, twin-tone sports seats with cloth/leather upholstery finished in Blue and Silver Grey, as well as a twin-tone leather steering wheel all round off the unique and very different character of the car. MINI Checkmate The special interpretation of a chequered flag is to be found both at the front on the body of the car and on the door entry strips. The specific model features characterising the MINI Checkmate include, inter alia, ASC+T, the Plus sports suspension, foglamps, white direction indicator lights, air conditioning, the Boost CD radio, an on-board computer, the lights and storage package, as well as the driver’s and front passenger’s seats adjustable for height. Placing the emphasis on individual style. Entering the market in Europe in early October and then being introduced step-by-step in the other countries, the new MINIs are naturally also available in a number of other paintwork colours. And it almost goes without saying that the wide range of special features and equipment sets hardly any limits to the customer’s fantasy and individual style. As an example, each customer can choose his or her standard or sports seats in the MINI out of a range of various cloth options, numerous combinations of cloth and leather, as well as full leather all round. Additional features are the aerodynamics package, a roof edge spoiler, illuminated door entry strips, the Cockpit Chrono Package, a glass sliding/vent roof, Chrome Line interior and exterior, audio systems such as the Digital Power Sound Module as well as harman/kardon loudspeakers and a lights package with illumination of the area around the doors. The customer focusing on particular comfort has the choice of automatic air conditioning, PDC Park Distance Control, seat heating, the TV navigation system with its 16 : 9 colour display, as well as a multifunction steering wheel. Extra safety, in turn, is ensured inter alia by the optional ASC+T and DSC assistance systems, head airbags, xenon lights, or the rain sensor complete with an anti-dazzle interior mirror. MINI One. The entry-level model offering excellent value for money comes in three non-metallic and seven metallic paintwork colours. The roof is in all cases in body colour, the exterior mirror caps are painted in black. Chrome-plated door handles, chrome surrounds on the radiator grille, the headlights and rear lights in clear glass look, as well as chrome trim along the waistline of the car add a touch of noblesse. While measuring only 3.64 metres or 143.3´´ in length, the MINI One offers ample space for four adults and comes with 150 litres or 5.25 cu ft luggage compartment capacity. Moving down the split rear-seat backrests, in turn, the customer receives an even more remarkable 670 litres or 23.45 cu ft of luggage space. The “basic” model for the ambitious individualist. Displacing 1.6 litres and featuring 16 valves, the four-cylinder power unit develops maximum output of 90 hp/66 kW in the entry-level model, giving the “smallest” four-seater MINI a top speed of 181 km/h or 112 mph. With its maximum torque of 140 Nm or 103 lb-ft at just 3,000 rpm, the MINI One accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 10.9 seconds and completes the interim sprint from 80–120 km/h in 4th gear in an equally impressive 11.9 seconds. In the process the MINI One, with its five-speed manual gearbox featured as standard, makes do with just 6.8 litres/100 km in the EU combined cycle (equal to 41.5 mpg Imp). Standard features of the entry-level model include, inter alia, ABS anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBFD) and Cornering Brake Control (CBC), a rev counter on the steering column, electrically operated exterior mirrors and window lifts, height adjustment of the driver’s seat and steering column, the Wave radio, a tyre defect indicator, rear-seat backrests split and folding forward individually, a Service Interval Indicator, power steering, central locking with comfort opening and remote control. MINI One D. The MINI One D is the perfect combination of economic motoring and driving pleasure, thus bringing together two worlds the way only a MINI can do. More diesel power for the MINI. As of this autumn the MINI One D will be offering even more fun and pleasure on the road, with output increasing by no less than 20 per cent to 88 hp/65 kW for even more sporting and agile behaviour. This superior performance is also a result of the car’s even “beefier” torque curve, variable turbocharger geometry, a feature quite unusual in this segment of the market, boosting torque to 190 Nm or 140 lb-ft throughout a wide speed range from 1,800–3, 000rpm. MINI One D The compact 1.4-litre aluMINIum power unit has been thoroughly updated, various improvements within the engine as well as the modification of engine management and the fuel injectors, the oil pumps, exhaust gas recirculation and the intercooler serving to provide an even higher standard of all-round excellence than before. And last but not least, the engine now also comes with a special cover on top. Benefiting from all these improvements, the new MINI One D will certainly remain just as economical as its predecessor, with the emission of harmful substances reduced to an even lower level despite the significant improvement of performance on the road. Powerful and refined. The agile diesel MINI accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 11.9 seconds, completing the interim sprint from 80–120 km/h in the fourth out of six gears in a mere 10.1 seconds, And continuing the process of acceleration, the driver will soon reach the car’s top speed of 175 km/h or 109 mph. Responding dynamically to the throttle, the four-cylinder power unit ensures superiority on the road both when cruising in style and when the driver prefers a more sporting feeling of genuine performance. ASC+T stability control featured as standard, finally, makes sure at all times that the MINI One D will convey all its muscular torque to the road without slipping. Driving pleasure without regrets. Despite the increase in power and performance, this fast-revving diesel will remain a rare guest at the filling station: Fuel consumption in the composite EU cycle is just 4.8 litres/100 km diesel or 58.8 mpg Imp, equalling CO2 emissions of just 129 g/km. Driving out of town, the MINI One D makes do with an even more economical 4.3 litres/100 km (equal to 65.7 mpg Imp). So depending on your style of motoring, you can expect one 50-litre tank of fuel to offer approximately 1,000 km or 620 miles of driving pleasure. Another obvious point is that the MINI One D fulfils all requirements of the EU4 emission standard. Among other features, this is ensured by common rail fuel injection with new engine management (DDE 6) and new injectors, cooled exhaust gas recirculation with an integrated catalytic converter, as well as the modified exhaust system featuring an extra-large oxidation catalyst. How do you recognise this agile, compact diesel? From outside the only difference from the petrol-engined MINI One is the car’s logo on the rear lid, the model-specific bumpers and side-sills, as well as the exhaust tailpipe covered by the rear air dam. Market launch of the MINI One D begins in Europe in October, with the introduction of the new model in other countries then following step-by-step. MINI Cooper. In the MINI Cooper the 1.6-litre four-cylinder churns out maximum power of 115 hp/85 kW, enough to accelerate the world’s best-selling MINI to 100 km/h in just 9.1 seconds and give the car a top speed of 200 km/h or 124 mph. Maximum torque of 150 Nm or 111 lb-ft, in turn, comes at 4,500 rpm, ensuring superior power and performance from the bottom up. As a result, the MINI Cooper accelerates in fourth gear from 80–120 km/h in just 10.5 seconds, while fuel consumption remains relatively modest at 6.9 litres/100 km in the composite EU cycle (equal to 40.9 mpg Imp). Like the MINI One, the MINI Cooper comes as standard with a sporting five-speed manual gearbox. The more comfort-oriented motorist wishing to leave the gearshift process to an automatic transmission, in turn, has the choice of MINI’s optional infinitely variable CVT gearbox allowing him to drive the MINI Cooper either in the “normal” automatic mode or with all the benefits of a semi-automatic six-speed gearbox complete with Steptronic. The MINI Cooper comes with a range of no less than 11 paintwork colours, three of which are non-metallic, eight metallic. The small but fine difference. The currently moat popular MINI stands out from the “basic” MINI One inter alia by its chrome-plated rear lid handle, the slats in the radiator grille, and the tailpipe trim. And like the MINI Cooper S, the MINI Cooper is also available with its roof and exterior mirrors in a contrasting White or Black colour, regardless of the main colour of the paintwork. A further sign of distinction is the 175/65 R 15 tyres featured as standard on 15-inch light-alloy rims. To give this stylish MINI even more attractive looks and emphasise its superior performance, the genuine enthusiast can also opt for bonnet stripes in Black or White, for chrome-plated caps on the exterior mirrors, or the roof and exterior mirrors featured in chequered flag or Union Jack design. MINI Cooper S. The top-of-the-range model remains the supreme performer in its segment, the 1.6-litre four-cylinder compressor engine with intercooler developing an outstanding 170 hp/125 kW – enough for a top speed of 222 km/h or 138 mph. Substantial torque of up to 220 Nm or 162 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm ensures impressive performance when accelerating, enabling the MINI Cooper S to sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 7.2 seconds. Driving pleasure of the highest standard on all four seats. The crisp and exciting six-speed manual gearbox complete with traction control featured as standard to keep the power of the engine properly on the road at all times guarantees driving pleasure of the highest standard wherever you go. Also featured as standard, the Plus sports suspension is the guarantee for exemplary handling, with the throaty sound of the engine and the exclusive looks of the entire car rounding off the unique pleasure of driving the MINI Cooper S. Among other things, the interim sprint from 80–120 km/h in fourth gear clearly proves that this extra-powerful MINI is a genuine sports performer, the car completing this exercise reliably within just 6.1 seconds. And despite its respectable performance, the MINI Cooper S consumes just 8.6 litres of premium fuel/100 km in the combined EU cycle, equal to 32.8 mpg Imp. Self-confident appearance. The most striking differences versus the MINI Cooper are the air scoops on the bonnet, the model-specific bumpers in body colour, as well as the roof spoiler. In addition, white direction indicators at the side and the side grilles finished in each case in chrome, dual tailpipes in the middle and the fuel tank flipper flap prove that this MINI is really a very special car. Like the bars in the radiator grille, the grab handle on the rear lid is finished in body colour. The roof and exterior mirror caps, in turn, are painted White or Black and also come in body colour as a no-cost option. Again to meet the customer’s choice, the MINI Cooper S is available in two non-metallic and no less than eight metallic paintwork colours. The MINI Cooper S is the only car in its class to feature runflat tyres measuring 195/55 R 16 and running on highly attractive 16-inch light-alloy wheels. Within the interior with its fine match of colours, particularly exclusive cloth options and leather qualities as well as surfaces finished in aluMINIum look round off the car’s high level of distinction. Door entry strips in stainless steel, a leather steering wheel, the leather gearshift lever knob, as well as the stainless-steel footrest, finally, add the ultimate touch to the car’s exclusive interior. Agile automatic transmission for the powerful driving machine. The top model in the range also comes as an option with automatic transmission: This six-speed automatic complete with Steptronic, adaptive transmission management and extremely short gearshift times gives the MINI Cooper S truly outstanding agility, sporting performance, and a high level of all-round motoring comfort. A hydraulic torque converter operating with maximum efficiency keeps the gearshift smooth and soft, a converter lock-up clutch ensures efficient positive engagement and superior fuel economy. In the automatic mode, the complete set of gears may be switched in various gearshift programs to either a Sports (S) or a Comfort (D) setting, with the option to shift gears manually from the standard gearshift paddles on the steering wheel (Steptronic). In the process electronic shift management consistently monitors driving conditions and adapts gearshift characteristics accordingly. Benefiting from its sporting gearshift configuration, the MINI Cooper S automatic reaches its top speed of 220 km/h or 136 mph in fifth gear. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h, in turn, comes in just 7.7 seconds, while fuel consumption in the composite EU cycle is a mere 9.0 litres/100 km, equal to 31.4 mpg Imp. Even greater active safety with a limited-slip differential. The limited-slip differential available as an option on the MINI Cooper S with manual gearbox ensures even more traction and driving pleasure in bends or on difficult surfaces. The mechanically controlled differential integrated in the transmission housing enables the driver to safely reach even higher speeds in bends. A further important point is that the differential enhances the car’s active safety by limiting wheel slip, making it easier for the driver to keep control particularly on road surfaces varying from one side and end of the car to the other. The MINI Convertibles. Without making any concessions in terms of agility, safety and function, this unique four-seater with all the traits of a classic open-air fun car really offers motoring pleasure of the highest standard. Thanks to their very high level of body stiffness and superior suspension, the MINI Convertibles again stand out through their nimble behaviour and that go-kart feeling so typical of the brand. A convertible with a sliding roof. The roof folds back fully automatically within just 15 seconds. All you have to do is press a button to open, first, the integrated sliding roof fully operational also while driving at speeds of up to 120 km/h and moving back infinitely to any desired position up to a maximum of 40 centimetres or 15 3/4´´. Then, pressing the same button again, you open the entire roof for open-air motoring in all its glory. While the folding roof moves to the rear, the roof columns are automatically retracted and the rear side windows move down into the body of the car. Thanks to its intelligent Z-folding configuration, the roof comes to a rest in compact dimensions behind the rear seats, without the car requiring any kind of tonneau cover. Making optimum use even of small storage areas. The MINI Convertible is not only a highly attractive car, but is also very practical. One example is the rear lid folding down and subsequently held in position by two steel cables. The lid thus serves as a highly practical loading panel able to carry weights of up to 80 kilos or 176 lb. With the roof closed, the luggage compartment offers capacity of up to 165 litres or 5.78 cu ft, with a practical 120 litres or 4.20 cu ft still remaining when the roof is open. In conjunction with the rear-seat backrests folding down and lockable in position, luggage space can be increased to a most remarkable 605 litres or 21.18 cu ft. And at the same time the Easy Load system ensures generous through-loading qualities, the bottom part of the roof opening up and remaining firmly in position with the roof itself closed. This leaves an opening large enough for even bulky objects such as surfboards or golf bags. High standard of safety – even without the roof. Thanks to the stiff structure of the body and the restraint system comprising, inter alia, two frontal airbags and two head/thorax side airbags integrated in the seats, the MINI Convertible fulfils the strictest crash standards and requirements in the world. In a rollover the A-pillar incorporating a tube made of ultra-high-strength steel plays a significant load-bearing role in the genuine sense of the word. And at the rear the double rollbar made of high-strength aluMINIum tubes and incorporating integrated headrests again offers ample safety and protection. The MINI Convertible comes as standard with ABS anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution (EBFD), and Cornering Brake Control (CBC). Optional features are ASC+T traction control (standard on the MINI Cooper S Convertible), DSC Dynamic Stability Control, and a limited-slip differential (on the MINI Cooper S Convertible only). Equipped for the highest demands. The wide range of standard features comprises, among other highlights, an electrically operated roof complete with sliding roof function, a heated rear window made of glass, two frontal and head/thorax side airbags, a tyre defect indicator, electrically controlled exterior mirrors and window lifts front and rear, power steering, PDC Park Distance Control at the rear, a rev counter, height adjustment on the driver’s seat and steering column, as well as central locking with remote control and a comfort opening function on both the windows and the roof of the car. MINI One Convertible. Developing maximum engine output of 90 hp/66 kW, the MINI One Convertible has a top speed of 175 km/h or 109 mph, matched by peak torque of 140 Nm/103 lb-ft at 3,000 rpm. This accelerates the MINI One Convertible to 100 km/h in 11.8 seconds and provides interim acceleration in fourth gear from 80–120 km/h in 13.5 seconds. Overall fuel consumption in the EU composite cycle is 7.2 litres/100 km, equal to 39.2 mpg Imp. Fresh colours emphasising the fun factor. The MINI One Convertible is available with a choice of three non-metallic and seven metallic colours, two of which are reserved exclusively to the Convertible. Like the exterior mirror caps, the roof on the “basic” model always comes in black. A further feature specific to the Convertible is the third brake light integrated in the chrome trim strip extending all round the window line. High-quality textiles and surfaces give the harmoniously designed interior its very special touch of flair and class. The instrument panel and door linings, in turn, come in Silver, Anthracite or in one of five of the exterior paint colours as well as a wood and aluMINIum trim look. MINI Cooper Convertible. The fundamental difference between the MINI Cooper Convertible and the “basic” MINI One Convertible is the more powerful engine offering an extra 25 hp: Maximum output of 115 hp or 85 kW gives the MINI Cooper Convertible a top speed of 193 km/h or 120 mph. Peak torque of 150 Nm or 111 lb-ft at 4,500 rpm, in turn, ensures superior acceleration at all times: The MINI Cooper Convertible accelerates to 100 km/h from a standstill in just 9.8 seconds and consumes 7.3 litres/100 km in the EU test cycle, equal to 38.7 mpg Imp. Apart from the five-speed manual gearbox featured as standard, the MINI Cooper Convertible is optionally available with infinitely variable automatic transmission (CVT). The fine difference. As on the MINI Cooper S Convertible , the fully automatic soft roof is available in Black, Blue, and Green. The caps on the exterior mirrors, in turn, come in body colour, while the slats in the radiator grille, the grab handle on the rear lid, and the exhaust tailpipe trim are all chrome-plated. This sporting convertible comes as standard on 15-inch light-alloy wheels running on 175/65 R 15 tyres. As an option it is available with attractive 16- and 17-inch light-alloy wheels, with very special 17-inch Five-Star Bullet light-alloy wheels coming exclusively on the MINI Convertibles as a particular highlight. What more can you demand? To fulfil the most individual, personal wishes, the MINI Convertibles can be further upgraded by a wide range of special features. Examples are a wind deflector, a heated windscreen, seat heating, the Cockpit Chrono Package complete with oil and water temperature gauges as well as an oil pressure gauge. And in an extreme situation, optional assistance systems such as ASC+T Automatic Stability and Traction Control as well as DSC Dynamic Stability Control ensure superior driving stability and handling on the road. MINI Cooper S Convertible. This ultra-powerful open-air driving machine combines supreme handling with unique performance and all the unmarred pleasure of motoring in the open air. Compact open-air high performer. Displacing 1.6 litres, the four-cylinder compressor engine with intercooler develops maximum output of 170 hp/125 kW and, in conjunction, with the six-speed manual gearbox featured as standard, gives the MINI Cooper S Convertible the performance of a genuine sports car. Peak torque of 220 Nm or 162 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm, in turn, ensures superior acceleration at all times, this open four-seater reaching 100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds. The interim sprint from 80–120 km/h in fourth gear, in turn, comes in just 6.6 seconds, and the car’s impressive top speed is no less than 215 km/h or 133 mph. Fuel consumption in the combined EU cycle, finally, is 8.8 ltr/100 km, equal to 32.1 mpg Imp. Featured as standard, ASC+T Automatic Stability and Traction Control guarantees optimum transmission of power to the road at all times. DSC Dynamic Stability Control and a limited-sip differential come as optional extras for even greater and more superior driving stability. Sophisticated understatement without superficial show effects. This open-air driving machine comes in three non-metallic and seven metallic colours, two of which are reserved exclusively for the MINI Cooper S Convertible. Through its specially designed bumpers and side-sills, the air scoop in the engine compartment lid, white direction indicators at the side and the chrome-plated rollbars, side grilles and exhaust tailpipes, the MINI Cooper S Convertible clearly stands out from the other two models. Like the bars in the radiator grille and the rear-view mirror cap, the grab handle on the rear lid is finished in body colour. Matching its sports suspension, this dynamic convertible comes with 16-inch light-alloy wheels in X-light design and 195/55 R 16 runflat tyres. Both the dashboard and the door linings glisten like brushed aluMINIum and the five exterior colours are matched as an option by the interior in the same colour. The sports seats featured as standard, finally, are available with a wide range of upholstery options in cloth, cloth/leather combined, and full leather all round. John Cooper Works. Even more power for the top performers. Offering a very special tuning kit, John Cooper Works, already a partner of MINI for many years, turns the MINI Cooper S into an outstanding driving machine in every respect: Developing maximum output of 210 hp/155 kW and peak torque of 245 Nm/181 lb-ft at 4,500 rpm, this very special tuned MINI Cooper S accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds. Top speed, in turn, is 230 km/h or 143 mph. A particularly impressive factor is the car’s muscle and pulling power at all speeds, the John Cooper Works MINI Copper S accelerating from 80–120 km/h in fourth gear in just 5.4 seconds. The tuning kit comprises features such as a new compressor and cylinder head, as well as a modified air filter together with an additional intake opening, high-performance spark plugs, injection nozzles with enhanced throughput, adapted engine management and an exhaust system with a special tail silencer providing the right kind of sound for this very special car. Sound like music. Performance-enhancing components from John Cooper Works emphasise the motorsport DNA of every MINI. With the sound of the engine making a significant contribution to driving pleasure at the wheel of a MINI, John Cooper Works also offers a special Sound Kit for the MINI Cooper. Providing extra fun on the road, this kit comprising a modified air filter, a stainless-steel sports exhaust with its own, very special tailpipe and modified engine electronics, gives the MINI Cooper a throaty rumble truly reMINIscent of the race track. And at the same time the kit makes the response of the engine to the brake pedal even more spontaneous and dynamic. Trendy sports products in motorsport design. Various accessories from John Cooper Works made of high-quality composite carbon fibre serve to visibly upgrade the MINI at very first sight. As an example, exclusive carbon components such as the striking rear spoiler, the rear lid handle, as well as the caps on the exterior mirrors give the car a powerful look right from the start. And the MINI Cooper S is even available with the intake air scoop on the engine compartment lid made of carbon. The final touch is added inside the car by the instrument panel and interior trim also made of this very special high-tech material. Accessories with enhanced sporting qualities. The really discerning purchaser, however, can go one step further, for example by opting for sports seats with integrated headrests in various combinations of cloth, leather or Alcantara, complete with optional seat heating and adjustable thigh supports holding the driver and passenger perfectly in place even in the fastest bends. The striking motorsport design of the car, in turn, provides a clear reference to MINI’s affinity to motorsport. Indeed, even the passengers at the rear are not neglected in any way, benefiting again from extra-sporting seats with appropriate upholstery, like at the front. The firm and taut sports suspension with special springs, spring struts and anti-roll bars lowers the car’s centre of gravity by a substantial 10 millimetres or almost 0.4´´, thus allowing even higher speeds in bends without requiring any concessions in terms of safety. Since applying the brakes properly is at least as important as sports handling, the sports brakes available from John Cooper Works ensure even faster deceleration. And again, the powerful brake system is supplemented by even larger brake discs and pistons at the front as well as special brake pads on all four wheels. Original MINI Accessories. The range of Original MINI Accessories is large and wide. Over and above attractive light-alloy wheels, various aerodynamics packages, bonnet stripes and additional headlights, telecommunications and audio systems are all available to the truly discerning purchaser. All accessories are naturally tried and tested by MINI engineers, and comply in full with the BMW Group’s strict safety standards. Transport solutions for the outdoor enthusiast. MINI has developed a special rear carrier for transporting even bulky sports equipment on both the Convertible and the fixed-roof MINI. So now nothing can prevent you from enjoying genuine outdoor fun, the carriers serving to hold two bikes, two snowboards or two pairs of skis firmly and safely on each rack. The system is designed for unlimited, ongoing use of the luggage compartment even with the transportation rack fitted in position. And then, to open the rear lid, you simply fold down the carrier rack by approximately 45°. A further advantage is that when the carrier is not in use, it is easy to remove and re-fit in position simply by opening or closing the rapid-action catches. Anti-thief bolts, one lock on the support as well as locks in the sports equipment holders, finally, make life difficult for a thief. It’s a child’s world. Original MINI babyshells and child seats ensure optimum protection for even your smallest passengers. Being easy and secure to fit, the babyshells and child seats come as an option with an ISOFIX fastening system and may be used in all MINI models. The only prerequisite for using ISOFIX fastening is the availability of appropriate support clamps at the rear. The MINI Junior Seat I-II ISOFIX with its integrated climate system is most appropriate for children between 9 months and 7 years (9–25 kg/20–55 lb). This special seat comes with a backrest adjustable for both height and angle as well as a retention cable for small children weighing between 9 and 18 kilos/20 and 40 lb. MINI connects – the iPod Interface. Introducing the new Original MINI Interface, MINI and Apples iPod are now going the same way: This handy iPod replaces some 1,000 CDs, with the driver choosing the appropriate music title from the multifunction steering wheel. He then plays back the music of his choice through the music system within the MINI, the iPod player being charged via the car’s on-board power network during operation. The Original MINI Interface comes with an interface to the Apple iPod 3G and 4G as well as the iPod MINI, and is perfectly suited for all MINI models. |
