Nissan has picked up two awards from 4x4 and MPV Driver magazine in their 2008 awards, taking the total number of awards won this year to thirteen – lucky for some!

QASHQAI, still in its first year of sales, picked up the Ken Livingstone Award for the best urban 4x4. Commenting on the QASHQAI, Bob Murray, Editor of 4x4 and MPV Driver said: “This award, which reflects more city-friendly 4x4s, could have been designed for the QASHQAI.

“For city driving, it’s ideally sized and easy to see out of and park in tight spots. Most of all these days, perhaps, it’s exceptionally frugal and low on nasty gases. The real star is the 1.5dCi diesel which averages 52mpg and emits just 145g/km. That’s a carbon footprint so small it would hardly register on the streets of London.”

In the Used Double Cab category, the Navara impressed the judges with its sheer size along with its level of standard equipment and available options. Bob Murray said: “The current generation of Navara was the first double-cab to play the SUV card convincingly. Ever since its launch, it has remained at the forefront of the field and second-hand it is now very appealingly priced: no wonder it’s our Used Double Cab of the Year.”

Nissan’s popular crossover, QASHQAI, has picked up no fewer than five awards since going on sale in March this year. Built at Nissan’s award winning plant in Sunderland, over 16,000 QASHQAIs have been sold in the UK so far. Navara too has enjoyed sales success this year, outselling its nearest rival by almost 400 units YTD.
