Team Renezeder Expands Nissan’s Presence in Popular Off-Road SeriesGARDENA, Calif. – Building upon its strong off-road racing heritage, Nissan recently announced it will expand into the Pro-2 Division of the Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) series with an all-new Titan full-size race truck. Titan marks Nissan’s first full-size truck entry into a racing series. It will be campaigned by Team Renezender of American Flyer Racing, Lake Forest, Calif.Nissan currently supports two 2005 NISMO (Nissan Motorsports) Frontier truck teams in CORR’s Pro-Lite Division. NISMO Frontier drivers Chad Hord of Hord Off-Road Racing and Art Schmitt of Art Schmitt Racing currently rank first and fifth respectively in the Pro-Lite driver’s points championship standings. “The CORR series is the ideal venue to showcase the CORR Titan’s off-road superiority,” said Ron Stukenberg, senior manager, Nissan Motorsports marketing and operations. “Tough, durable and strong, the CORR Titan is purpose-built for off-road racing and is highly capable of upholding Nissan’s reputation in CORR.” The Titan CORR Pro-2 entry features a 715-horsepower, 5.6-liter V8 stock block engine with 510 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm, redlining at 8,200 rpm. Unlike many race engines, the block, cylinder heads, cam covers, water pump, main bearings, rod bearings, and ignition coils are all stock Titan components. The engine was prepared by Menards Engine Development. Team Renezeder has its own winning history in off-road competition, including three previous class victories at the Fall CORR Crandon event, a second place finish in the 2003 CORR Pro-2 points standings and a first place finish in the SCORE Baja 1000 Unlimited Class (1994). “We have been watching Team Renezeder for several years now, and feel the combination of their talent and experience teamed with Titan’s off-road credentials will create a powerful new force in the CORR series,” said Stukenberg. Nissan driver Art Schmitt will be the first to test the new Titan race truck in the Crandon Labor Day weekend event. This will be in addition to his Nissan Frontier Pro-Lite duties. The Titan is also scheduled to compete at the CORR Nissan Off Road Nationals with the season ending Championship races on September 24-25, and again at the Nissan Shootout on October 1-2, 2005 at Otay Ranch Off-Road Raceway in Chula Vista, Calif.
