Nissan Frontier Driver Moves Into Points Lead With Dominate PerformanceGARDENA, Calif. (June 27, 2005) '“ Nissan Frontier Pro-Lite racer Chad Hord dominated the competition at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway, Crandon, Wisconsin this past weekend in Rounds Five and Six of the Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) Pro-Lite Lucas Oil Series.Hord's back-to-back victories, his second and third of the season, moved him from second in the Driver's Points Standings into a solid first, 17 points ahead of second place and 20 points ahead of fellow Nissan Frontier driver Art Schmitt. Schmitt, who won two weeks before in Round Three, had another solid showing at Crandon '“ finishing third in both races. On Saturday's Round Five competition Hord, could have used help from one of his sponsors, BOSS Snowplows, to push his way through the pack of 20 race trucks at the land rush-style start. He emerged from what has become known as one of the most treacherous opening corners in all of off-road racing in third place and methodically knocked off the leaders a lap at a time. Powering into the lead on lap three, Hord never looked back with the Nissan Frontier's state-of-the-art 298-horsepower 2.5-liter race engine keeping the rest of the pack at bay. Schmitt ran second throughout most of the race, falling to third due to traction problems on the last lap. 'Crandon is probably the fastest and most demanding track on the entire CORR circuit and it's very pleasing to see how the Hord and Schmitt Nissan Frontier teams ran this weekend,' said Ron Stukenberg, senior manager, Nissan Motorsports marketing and operations. 'It really makes a statement about both the drivers and the durability of our trucks to have such strong results here.' On Sunday, Hord found himself sitting fourth after the first corner, then fell back another position before once again patiently moving up spot after spot and taking the lead for good on lap seven. Schmitt, who had taken the lead at the beginning, was knocked off the pace but battled back in a heroic closing lap charge to squeeze out his second consecutive podium finish, right at the finish line. 'Except for a change in second place drivers, the podium looked identical on both days of racing,' said Stukenberg. 'It was a picture-perfect ending to two great days of racing in Wisconsin.' Round five will be broadcast on SPEED TV on August 26 at 7:00pm Eastern. Rounds Seven and Eight of the CORR Lucas Oil Series are scheduled to be held at Heartland Park, Topeka, Kansas on July 8 '“ 9.
