GARDENA, Calif. (March 9, 2006) — Today Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA), announced that Gresham, Smith and Partners (GS&P) has been awarded a contract for the design and engineering of its new corporate headquarters building in Franklin, Tenn.
GS&P will be responsible for all site, civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, fire protection and electrical engineering services and interior design services.

On Nov. 10, 2005, Nissan announced it would relocate its corporate headquarters from Gardena, Calif., to Franklin in order to provide strategic, long-term operational benefits and to support NNA’s ongoing efforts to create synergies and improve performance. Nissan currently employs about 1,300 people on its headquarters campus located about 15 miles south of Los Angeles.

Site preparation work for the headquarters facility in Franklin is expected to begin as soon as permits are granted, possibly in June or July. Construction should take about two years; the building is expected to be completed in mid-2008.

The selection of the general contractor for the project is expected to be awarded within the next 60 days.
