- Scott Vazin to rejoin NNA Corporate Communications as company relocates its headquarters to Nashville, TN -GARDENA, Calif. (June 14, 2006) – Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today announced several personnel changes to its Corporate Communications team as the company prepares to relocate its national headquarters to Nashville next month.Scott Vazin will replace Kurt von Zumwalt as Director, Product Public Relations, effective October 16. Von Zumwalt, a 13-year veteran at Nissan, will retire December 1. Vazin returns to NNA after a 2 ½ year PR assignment at Nissan’s European headquarters in Paris. He joined NNA in 1996 and most recently served as Director, Corporate Communications, prior to his European assignment. As Director, Product PR, Vazin will oversee all Nissan and Infiniti model PR launch events, Lifestyle PR, media websites, national press fleet and auto show activities. John Schilling has been selected to fill the position of Senior Manager, Product PR (Nissan) replacing Tim Gallagher who becomes Senior Manager, Western Region PR, based in Southern California. Schilling joined Nissan in 1997 and served in several Corporate Communications’ positions in California and Washington, D.C. until 2005 when he joined the Finance and Administration group as a V-Pilot Manager in Nissan’s V-up program. In this role he served as a project manager on various assignments utilizing proven methodologies to resolve organizational issues. In his new role, Schilling reports to Vazin and is responsible for all Nissan product PR launch activities and overseeing Nissan vehicles in the national press fleet. Gallagher has been with NNA for 15 years serving in a variety of Product and Corporate PR positions. He brings his considerable experience to the department’s regional team where he will oversee all Nissan and Infiniti PR activities and media relationships in the Western U.S. He also will provide longer term strategic direction for all Nissan and Infiniti product PR launch plans and serve as PR liaison with Nissan’s design studio, Nissan Design America (NDA), in La Jolla, California. In his new role, Gallagher will report jointly to Vazin on future product plans and to Katherine Zachary, Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, on regional activities. As previously announced, Zachary will relocate to Nashville from her office at Nissan Technical Center North America (NTCNA) in Farmington Hills, MI. Also joining the Product PR team is Darryll Harrison as Planner, Product PR (Nissan), reporting to Schilling. Harrison will assist in planning and executing product PR launch events and oversee relationships with key national and regional media. Harrison joined NNA in 2002 in Consumer Affairs and has been in Corporate Communications since 2003, most recently as Specialist, Internal Communications. Prior to joining Nissan, Harrison worked with technology companies at a boutique PR firm in Silicon Valley, CA . Terri Hines moves from the Corporate to the Product PR team as Senior Manager, Marketing and Lifestyle Communications. Hines joined NNA in 1996 and has served in several Corporate Communications’ positions in California and Washington, D.C. Most recently she was Senior Manager, Public Affairs where she was responsible for the strategic direction of Nissan’s philanthropic programs and community outreach activities nationwide. In her new role, Hines will be responsible for raising Nissan and Infiniti’s visibility in the burgeoning area of lifestyle media and also will serve as NNA’s point person in communicating the company’s marketing initiatives, both general market and multicultural. She will report to Vazin. Joining the Corporate team is Stephanie Valdez Streaty, Senior Manager, Philanthropy and Diversity Communications. Valdez Streaty joined Nissan in 1996 and has served in several HR positions, most recently as Senior Manager, Diversity and Strategic Coordination. The company is in the process of hiring an additional staff member to assist Valdez Streaty. Also joining the Corporate team, effective July 1, is Kiho Ohga, Manager, Corporate and CEO Communications, reporting to Fred Standish, Director, Corporate Communications. Ohga joins NNA from Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., Japan, where she has been CEO Communications Manager. Ohga has been with Nissan since 2001. Filling out the product team is Tony Pearson who joins Corporate Communications as Manager, Technology/Environment/Motorsports, replacing Dean Case who has left the company. Pearson will be responsible for communications on Nissan’s technological advances, including environmental technology and safety. He also will manage communications for all recalls and service campaigns. Pearson joined Nissan’s Corporate Training Office in 2001 and has more than 25 years of automotive experience at Subaru and agencies specializing in the automotive industry. Source: Nissan |
