Renault has partnered the Cannes Film Festival since 1983. For this year’s event, held from May 14 to 25, 2008, Renault will be providing a luxury fleet to transport actors and personalities to and from the red carpet stairs. Renault has supported the development of the Festival over the years by increasing the size of its fleet. From 15 in 1983, Renault now provides 100 vehicles, namely Vel Satis, Laguna Estate and Espace. A number of models have figured in the fleet over the years, including the Renault 25 and the special series Renault Safrane “Palme d’Or”, designed to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the partnership.

Renault began its cinema career in 1899, when Louis Renault’s Voiturette appeared on film. Countless Renaults have starred in films since then, including the Renault Primaquatre Torpedo in And God Created Woman in 1956, and more recently, Vel Satis and Espace in Rush Hour III. Today, Renault works with film and TV producers through an active policy of partnerships and product placement. Renault models feature in Arnaud Desplechin’s film Un Conte de Noël, which has been selected for the Official Competition at this year’s festival.

Carlos Ghosn, President and CEO of Renault, will be climbing the red-carpet stairs of the Palais des Festivals to attend the screening on Saturday May 24.
