With worldwide sales totalling 2.3 million (over half for LCV versions), Kangoo has been an immense commercial success. Kangoo Express was launched in November 1997, and immediately earned huge appreciation as a working vehicle, topping the European small-van charts for ten consecutive years and clocking up sales of 1.4 million units. New Kangoo Express follows through to offer Kangoo fans more still, outperforming its illustrious predecessor in design, comfort, ergonomics, reliability and respect for the environment. Its overriding aim is to achieve a faultless match to the exacting needs of professional users in all walks of life. That also explains the appearance of a short version, New Kangoo Express Compact, a great-looking, compact, agile van specifically designed for an urban environment. With this extended range, Renault will be strengthening its position as Europe’s foremost LCV brand.

Design and interior features
The New Kangoo Express line boasts modern, expressive styling, highlighted by a short, robust front end. The cockpit is spacious and bright, with an advanced panoramic MPV-style windscreen.

Inside, the design emphasis is on space, practicality and functionality, with features unprecedented on a vehicle of this type. Driving comfort is identical to that of a leisure vehicle, with a high-up driving position, excellent visibility and dashboard-mounted gearshift. New Kangoo Express and New Kangoo Express Compact both offer extensive ingenious stowage features including A4-format document stowage on the dashboard, a ceiling rack, a central armrest (depending on version) and a large 15-litre closed glove compartment (depending on version). Multimedia connectivity, with Bluetooth capabilities, turns New Kangoo Express into a fully fledged mobile office. Depending on the version and country, both new Kangoo Express vans are available with a wealth of driver support systems carried over from leisure vehicles, such as cruise control with speed limiter, rear parking proximity sensors and automatic headlamp and wiper activation.

Close-up on New Kangoo Express
New Kangoo Express measures 4.21m in length, for an optimized loading volume of between 3 and 3.60 cubic metres. The width between wheel arches is 1.21m, which means the van can carry loads in europalette format. The asymmetrical rear swing-doors and sliding side door (depending on version) allow easy access to the cargo area. The passenger seat can be folded down (option) to increase the carrying capacity to 3.50 m3 and maximum load length to 2.50m. New Kangoo Express is a high-performance working vehicle with a choice of economical, environment-friendly, low-maintenance engines. There are three diesel engines: 70hp, 85hp and 105hp versions of the 1.5 dCi unit. With CO2 emissions below 140g/km, the 70hp and 85hp versions both earn the Renault eco2 signature, and the 105hp version can be fitted with a particulate filter. In addition to the three diesel engines, two petrol powerplants are available: the 1.6 8V 90hp and the 1.6 16V 105hp. Built on the acclaimed Scénic chassis, New Kangoo Express deliversunprecedented handling, comfort and safety for a van of this kind. It offers an extremely sound, balanced and reassuring drive.

Close-up on New Kangoo Express Compact
New Kangoo Express Compact is a great-looking, compact, agile van that shares many features with New Kangoo Express, including europalette loading width, a major feat for a mini-LCV. Exceptional dimensional efficiency gives a carrying capacity of between 2.3 and 2.9 cubic metres (depending on version) in a van just 3.83m long. Meanwhile, the passenger seat folds down to give a maximum load length of 2.11m. New Kangoo Express Compact comes with 70hp or 85hp versions of the 1.5 dCi diesel engine, or a 90hp 1.6 8V petrol engine. Both diesel units earn New Kangoo Express Compact the Renault eco² signature. The 1.5 dCi 85hp version will emit just 129g of CO2 per km ! (on the vehicles commercialized from October 2008). Like its larger sister, New Kangoo Express Compact is also built on the Scénic chassis and features outstanding handling. At just 3.83m in length and with a tiny turning circle of 9.70m (9.85m for Renault Twingo !), it also excels in city-centre manoeuvrability and parkability.

Superior active and passive safety
Both New Kangoo Express models have active and passive safety features well above par for a light commercial vehicle, and more typical of a family saloon. There’s latest-generation ABS with engine torque overrun regulation (MSR) and emergency brake assist. The standard version of New Kangoo Express is also available with ASR traction control and ESC with understeer control (1.5 dCi 85hp and 105hp versions only). Both versions produced superlative stopping distance performance over ten successive braking operations from 100kph to standstill. The New Kangoo Express cockpit is designed to offer occupants the highest possible safety. There’s a driver’s airbag, seatbelts with pretensioner and load limiter, and an antisubmarining hump (except on the fold-down passenger seat). A passenger airbag and driver's side airbag are also optionally available.

Wide range of conversions
New Kangoo Express and New Kangoo Express Compact are designed to accommodate special conversions. Through partnerships with conversion specialists, either New Kangoo Express can be transformed into a special-purpose vehicle: call-out service vehicle, delivery vehicle, refrigerated van, pick-up, etc.
