Now in the second year of its ambitious growth programme, Renault Commitment 2009, the fruits of the company’s 26-model strong product assault have already started to appear, with among others, the launch of New Twingo in Geneva. With a further three new models to appear before the year is out, Renault has now released preliminary details for New Laguna, the flagship model for its unprecedented product revolution and one of the most eagerly-awaited cars of the year.

New Laguna is pivotal to Renault Commitment 2009, both as the spearhead for the company’s push upmarket and for emphasising the significant quality progress which the company has made in recent years, most recently with Clio and Modus which, according to recent external quality and reliability indicators, are already in the upper echelons of their segments.

With a commitment to rank in the top three in its segment for product and service quality, quality has been integral to the X91 project (New Laguna) from the outset. Developed with the most stringent quality requirements, New Laguna shows elements reflecting the intensive work carried out in the cabin, with particular attention paid to the quality of materials used and the standard of fit and finish, which will undoubtedly draw comparison with those of its premium rivals.

New Laguna boasts elegant lines and performance levels perfectly in keeping with the upper-medium segment, with the promise of genuine driving pleasure from its blend of outstanding ride quality and best-in-class active and passive safety features. In line with the exceptional level of travelling comfort offered, New Laguna’s interior design creates an atmosphere of calm and serenity for all of its occupants.

New Laguna will be fully revealed on 4th June. For those who can’t wait until then, a preview website, www.insidenewlaguna.com, has just been launched, where further details on the car will gradually be revealed closer to the car’s official launch. Currently showing is a short movie of the new car undergoing hot weather testing in Malaysia, at the hands of Renault F1 Team’s drivers, Giancarlo Fisichella and Heikki Kovalainen.
