Amerigon Climate Control Seat (CCS) System to be Featured in Newly Designed 2007 Range Rover

First Introduction of CCS Heated and Cooled Seat System by European Manufacturer

NORTHVILLE, Mich., Aug. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Amerigon Incorporated (NASDAQ:ARGN) , a leader in developing products based on advanced thermoelectric (TE) technologies for a wide range of global markets and applications, today announced that its proprietary Climate Control Seat(TM) (CCS(TM)) system will be offered as an option in the Range Rover for 2007 model year, a full-size luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) that is sold throughout the world. The Range Rover for 2007 model year, which is manufactured by UK-based Land Rover, has received substantial update to remain one of the world's most complete luxury SUVs and will be in showrooms this fall. The Range Rover is the first vehicle introduced by a European manufacturer to feature CCS, which will provide front seat occupants individually controlled heating and cooling for year round driving comfort.
The Range Rover is known for luxurious interiors, which include premium leather and burnished walnut trim, among other design elements, and the fact that CCS was again included as an option underscores its value among consumers, said Amerigon President and Chief Executive Officer Daniel R. Coker.

"This represents an important step in our initiative to expand the market for CCS to European automotive manufacturers," Coker said. "The Land Rover engineers thoroughly re-evaluated and redesigned the Range Rover, including the interior accessories and options packages, and chose CCS as a valued feature. The fact they included CCS in their new design is a testament to the system's value and appeal to the Land Rover engineers and to consumers. There is nothing else like CCS on the market anywhere in the world."

The CCS system, which is built around Amerigon's highly-efficient, solid-state thermoelectric device that converts electric current into a heating or cooling system for the front seats of the Range Rover, is completely independent, not connected to the automobile's heating and air conditioning system and does not reduce power available to the engine. It also emits no CFCs or other gases and is completely friendly to the environment.
