* Saab 9-5 and Saab 9-3 Anniversary packages for Aero, Vector and Linear * Enhanced value engine choice * Unique exterior paint finish and alloy wheels * Saab-embossed leather sports seats * Interior trim enhancements2006-11-29 -- Saab is celebrating 60 years as a car manufacturer by launching Anniversary editions of its Saab 9-5 and Saab 9-3 products, featuring enhanced engine power and unique exterior and interior detailing.
Saab 9-3 SportCombi, MY 2007, Anniversary Edition As a manufacturer of aircraft, Saab surprised the automotive world in June 1947 when it revealed the prototype for its first production car, the Saab 92. With streamlined bodywork, unitary construction and front wheel drive, it owed little to the conventional design wisdoms of the time, establishing a tradition for innovative and independent thinking that has characterized the Saab brand ever since.
The Saab 9-5 and Saab 9-3 Anniversary editions, on sale from January 2007, now offer customers enhanced value in recognition of Saab's 60th birthday. Included in the price of all turbo gasoline variants, except on top-of the-line Aero models, is an uprated engine, together with distinctive styling additions*.
Externally, Saab 9-5 Vector and Aero models feature a unique Ice Blue metallic paint finish and special five-spoke, 17-inch alloy wheels. SportCombi models also include optional roof rails finished in matte chrome. However, if they wish, customers can specify one of six other metallic colors from the current model year palette at no extra charge.

Inside, the black Anniversary trim includes sports leather front seats with a Saab logo embossed on the upper backrest. All seating positions include contrasting inserts in blue or gray leather, depending on the external color choice, together with prominent panel stitching, in black or gray, which is also adopted for the door armrests.
A choice of dark walnut veneer, a ‘tektite’-effect or a tinted metallic-effect finish is offered for the instrument panel fascia and door trims, together with chromed air vent control knobs. The SportCombi also features a chromed aircraft-shaped handle in the cargo floor, similar to that on the 9-3. As a final flourish, black floor mats finished with blue or gray piping are included as standard.
Anniversary editions for Vector and Aero models in the Saab 9-3 range follow a similar theme, including an uprated engine offer. Here color-keyed door handles and trunk lid spoilers for the Vector Sport Sedan and Convertible are included, in addition to the Anniversary alloy wheels and unique Ice Blue metallic paint finish (with other current color choices available). The Anniversary Convertible also adds sand to its blue and black hood color choice.
Inside, the Anniversary theme is based on a gray room color choice. The unique black leather sports seating, including Saab-embossed front seatbacks, is trimmed throughout with complementary gray inserts and prominent stitching. The central gearshift molding and door trims are offered in a dark walnut or matte chrome finish, with the prominent stitching also added to the armrests. The textile floor mats now have gray piping.
A 60th Anniversary package for Saab 9-5 and 9-3 Linear customers offers the Ice Blue metallic paint finish and alloy wheels at a special price. The 9-5 Anniversary Linear also includes the chromed air vent control knobs, as well as the aircraft-shaped cargo floor handle and optional matte chrome roof rails for the SportCombi.
The introduction of the 2007 Saab 60th Anniversary editions is the first step in a series of initiatives that Saab is planning in recognition of a rich heritage founded in aircraft design, Scandinavian culture and a tradition for independent, forward thinking.
