Saab Sets Record Sales Pace

September 2005

An annual sales record for Saab in the United Kingdom was announced this week - with three months of the year still remaining. More than 20,500 cars have so far been sold in the UK, exceeding 2004's previous record of 20,294 cars in a full year. Saab Great Britain Ltd is now forecasting a total of more than 27,000 sales by the year-end, a substantial 33 per cent increase.
The UK is Saab's second largest market outside Sweden and also one of the brand's longest-established. Booming sales during the last 18 months have consistently positioned Saab as the UK's fastest-growing premium car brand.

In common with many other markets, Saab Great Britain anticipates a strong final quarter in 2005 as sales of the all-new 9-3 SportCombi and the extensively revised 9-5 range commence.

Globally, Saab expects to sell about 135,000 cars this year, another all-time sales record for the brand. In addition to the UK, it is benefiting from strong sales in other key markets, the United States - where the Saab 9-7X SUV was launched this year - and Sweden - where the 9-5 2.0t BioPower model running on ethanol (E85) fuel is an outstanding success.
