PRNewswire -- Aug. 15: Ford Motor Company will present a case study highlighting the environmental and economic benefits of Escape Hybrid taxis to Mayor Diaz, as well as government and commercial fleet representatives in Miami.

Cities across the country are successfully turning to hybrid-electric vehicles to meet their clean air goals and reduce fuel costs - from taxicabs to municipal fleet vehicles. Mayor Diaz has made the one of the most significant commitments to hybrids in the U.S. to date, introducing 1,000 hybrid-electric vehicles into the City of Miami fleets by 2012.

WHERE: Miami City Hall: Thursday, August 17
3500 Pan American Drive, Miami

SUMMARY: The consumer and municipal benefits of the Escape Hybrid are illustrated by the success of taxis in New York and San Francisco. The Escape Hybrid offers uncompromised cargo and passenger volume, and has proven very reliable and efficient. Some cabs have accumulated more than 150,000 miles of severe use with no major mechanical problems, and taxi drivers are saving up to $30 per shift on fuel.

In Miami, Mayor Diaz recently announced a sweeping initiative to improve the environmental quality of the City of Miami, including the creating of the Greening Miami Commission, and the Miami Green Fleet, which will convert 1,000 city vehicles to hybrid or other fuel efficient engines by 2012.
