GRAND BLANC, Mich., (May 3, 2006) – A chance to play golf with Buick Touring Professional Tiger Woods is one of four items available to the public in a special auction to raise money for the Buick Open charities. The items will be available for bid on eBay ( www.buickopencharities.org) from May 3 (at 10 p.m. ET) through May 13 (at 10 P.M. ET).
“There are some fantastic items up for bid in this auction, including a once in a lifetime chance to spend a day playing golf with the world’s number one golfer,” said Larry Peck, Buick’s Golf marketing manager. “This is also a great opportunity to help raise much needed funds for some very worthy charities in Southeastern Michigan.”

One lucky person will have the opportunity to actually play a round of golf with Tiger Woods. The highest bidder will play with Tiger in the 2006 Buick Open Pro-Am on Wednesday, Aug. 2 or in the next Buick-sponsored tournament he plays in. The Buick Open is scheduled for July 31-Aug 6 at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Grand Blanc, Mich. The package includes air fare and hotel for two. (Please note that the handicap of the winning bidder must be 18 or less to be eligible).

Other items in the Buick Open charity auction include an all-expense-paid trip to see a special Tiger clinic in Los Angeles on Oct. 12 (includes lodging and airfare for two); the actual golf bag that Tiger used during the 2005 season (autographed by Tiger); and VIP passes to the 2007 Daytona 500 (including airfare for two, hotel accommodations, pit passes and more).

Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Buick Open charities, including the American Red Cross, Whaley Children’s Center, Easter Seals of Michigan, American Lung Association of Michigan and more. Buick has donated $7.9 million to charities throughout Southeastern Michigan since 1982, including a record $764,000 from the 2005 Buick Open.

The 2006 Buick Open, scheduled for July 31-Aug. 6 at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club, will offer a record purse of $4.8 million and the keys to a new Buick Lucerne luxury sedan. The defending champion is Vijay Singh, who can become the first player to win the tournament three consecutive times. He became the second player in tournament history to successfully defend his title when he captured the 2005 Buick Open.
