(Grand Blanc, Mich. – August 6, 2006) John Cook recorded a hole-in-one today on the 17th hole at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc, Mich. during the Buick Open to win Buick’s newest vehicle, a loaded 2007 Buick Lucerne sedan.
Cook recorded the ace with a 6-iron on the par 3, 178-yard hole. It’s the first car won at the Buick Open since Chris DiMarco recorded a hole-in-one on 17 in 1998.

“Out of any hole on the PGA tour that I could choose to hit a hole-in-one, it would be 17 at Warwick Hills, except maybe 16 at Augusta on Sunday,”
Cook expressed happily.

In his 27-year career as a professional golfer, Cook’s hole-in-one is his first recorded during PGA competition. This is Cook’s 23rd appearance at the Buick Open, more than any other player on the PGA Tour.

“When I heard that John had hugged the Lucerne on 17 after hitting the hole-in-one, and then greeting him when he finished his round at 18, it was one of my more exciting moments in my years of involvement at the Buick Open,” said Larry Peck, Buick golf marketing manager.

Lucerne is Buick’s most premium model with features and technologies you would expect in a high-end luxury vehicle. The loaded white Lucerne CXS Cook now owns features an ebony interior, a standard 275-horsepower 4.6L Northstar V-8 engine, heated washer fluid, heated and cooled seats, Magnetic Ride Control, a nine-speaker, 280-watt Harman Kardon audio system; and six-disc in-dash CD changer with MP3 capability, standard OnStar, six standard air bags and more. It is valued at more than $35,000.
