As one of the leading brands for specialist emergency vehicle conversions, Peugeot has opened a dedicated facility, adjacent to its new head office in Coventry to handle all its special activities for the brand. The 5,000 sq ft site; which employs 25 staff and is capable of handling a variety of vehicle conversions is currently completing orders for departments including: Police Support Units, Canine Patrol and Scenes of Crimes. Kevin O’Kelly, Aftersales Director for Peugeot, said: “Peugeot has long been completing high-quality emergency services conversions and the new facility enables us to provide a fully integrated in-house service for all specialist requirements. “We now have increased floor space, upgraded mechanical equipment and new technology available to us,” he added. “This means we can increase our capacity for completed conversions, while the new premises also house a specific area of new product development so we can continually enhance our portfolio of emergency special vehicle conversions.” PSVO’s new site has been inundated with work following the brand’s success at the annual National Association of Police Fleet Managers (NAPFM) Show, held recently at Cheltenham Racecourse. The brand created much interest with its extensive range of cars and commercial vehicles on offer including: 308 and 407 SW squad cars, a ‘Fire Authority’ Bipper van, ‘two-person cell’ Expert van and a PSU (Police Support Unit) vehicle based on the Peugeot Boxer. At the NAPFM Show, the PSVO team took over £500,000 of orders for a range of vehicles. Peugeot’s stand also generated great interest from delegates, while achieving second place in the coveted ‘best stand’ award, voted for by show attendees. Making its debut at the show was a specific conversion by PSVO for Canine Patrol units of its popular 308 SW which incorporates a specially designed, removable dog-cage. The 308 can carry five passengers and two dogs safely and in comfort, also features Peugeot’s standard ‘blue-light’ fittings including a light bar, siren, PA system, hand set, control box, LED bumper lights and full police livery. Louise Brown, Fleet Sales Manager for Specialist Fleets at Peugeot said: “It was a great show for Peugeot, where the reaction to the product on display was fantastic.” Louise concluded: “With the launch of our dedicated PSVO operation in Coventry and a strong range of vehicles available for conversion, Peugeot is building its emergency services range into the most comprehensive and diverse, yet. We will continue to expand on this, working closely with police fleet managers to ensure we can meet their ever-changing requirements for transport services.” |
