Sep 7, 2006 -- Dr hc Andreas Schleef has today advised the Supervisory Board of AUDI AG and the Board of Directors (Consejo) of SEAT SA that he will resign from his position as Chairman of the Board of Management at SEAT SA when he turns 63 on 30 September 2006.
Both Boards authorised Schleef’s request and expressed their thanks to him for his outstanding personal contribution to the consolidation and reorientation of the Volkswagen Group’s Spanish subsidiary brand.

The Supervisory Board of AUDI AG and the Board of Directors of SEAT S.A. have appointed Dipl.-Ing. Erich Schmitt, Member of the Board of AUDI AG with responsibility for Purchasing, as the new Chairman of the Board of SEAT S.A. with effect from 1 October 2006. Despite his new role, Schmitt will remain a Member of the Board of AUDI AG.

Ulf Berkenhagen was named by the Supervisory Board as AUDI AG Board Member with responsibility for Purchasing as from 1 October 2006 and will therefore succeed Schmitt. Berkenhagen was previously Head of Group Purchasing for Electrics/Electronics at Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg.

Schleef, hitherto an AUDI AG Board Member while fulfilling his role as Chairman of the Board of SEAT S.A., will also relinquish this post. He will continue to work with the company as AUDI AG’s Chief Authorised Representative for site-based projects. Audi is thus underlining the major importance that its Ingolstadt site enjoys as the company’s headquarters and as a financial, social and cultural focal point for a large proportion of its employees.
