• An increase in sales by 9% • A year marked by the new Octavia’s and the Octavia Estate’s successes • Consolidation of the leading position in Central Europe • Reinforcement of a position on key markets in Western Europe Addressing 236,698 customers (247,600 in 2004), the best-selling model range is the Fabia closely followed by the Octavia model family with 233,322 units sold worldwide (181,683 in 2004). The Škoda Superb went to 22,091 customers (22,392 in 2004). In Western Europe, the Škoda car sales increased by 14.8% to a total of 276,216 units. The most successful markets were Germany, Great Britain, and Spain where Škoda also markedly strengthened its market share and registered new sales records. The Škoda cars were bought by 102,216 customers (+5.9%) in Germany, which is 3.1% market share. In Great Britain were sold 38,294 Škoda cars (+11.9%) and in Spain 21,700 (+30.7%). In the Czech Republic, 64,561 new Škoda cars were registered, which represents an increase by 5% (+3,257 units) over 2004. Primarily the Škoda Octavia was chosen by 29% more customers than last year. A total of 56,743 new Škoda passenger cars and 7,818 new Škoda light-duty commercial vehicles were registered last year. In Central and Eastern Europe, Škoda Auto also witnessed a growth thanks to 185,713 cars sold. It is the first time in history that Škoda became the best-selling brand in Poland (almost 12% market share). Apart from the Czech Republic, Škoda is the market leader in Slovakia, Poland, Bulgaria, and Bosnia and Herzegovina as well. Škoda’s very successful markets also include Hungary where Škoda reached a market share of 9% with 18,130 cars sold (+4.5%). In Asia and overseas, Škoda Auto sold 30,182 units (+9.3%).
