Skoda Octavia Succeeds in the "Auto Trophy 2005" Poll

Škoda Octavia has been announced the best foreign car in Germany. The new Škoda Octavia has become the winner of the “Auto Trophy 2005” poll in the “best import” category on the most demanding European car market.
The “Auto Trophy” prize is announced by the prestigious motoring magazine “Auto Zeitung” annually. This year, more than 90,700 readers of the magazine produced by the German publishing house Bauer voted for the best cars out of 372 domestic and foreign makes of cars.

The new Škoda Octavia represents the second generation of this successful model range that made its first appearance in 1996. The car has acquired a number of international awards since its launch on the market in the spring of 2004. The new-generation Škoda Octavia has become the car of the year not only in the Czech Republic, but also in Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Finland, Lithuania, Serbia and Montenegro, Ukraine, and Great Britain. The Škoda Octavia has won the prestigious “Golden Steering-Wheel” award and the “Most Beautiful Car in the World” title bestowed by an international panel of architects, critics and artists in Milan, Italy in November 2004; in the Czech Republic, the Octavia has won the “Most Beautiful Car of the Year 2005” contest and has been awarded the “National Design Award” while in England, it has claimed the “Family Car of the Year 2005” title. After having won the Czech national round of the “Auto 1” poll, the new Škoda Octavia finished second overall in the all-European final of the prestigious “Auto 1” competition easily winning the “engineers” category.

On 1st November 2005, the new Škoda Octavia also became the jubilee five-millionth car to come down the assembly line of the Škoda Auto factory since its takeover by the Volkswagen Group in 1991. More than 1,350,000 first and second generation Octavias have been manufactured since 1996, which lists this car among the most successful models of the brand in its history lasting over 100 years.
