Other new features include the option of fitting the SunSet glass providing higher level of tinting. Another important novelty for the Octavia cars is introduction of the DSR (Driver Steering Recommendation) system, which further increases an effect of the ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) system and can reduce the risk of an accident in specific driving situations. Another new feature that can be ordered as part of an extra equipment of the Octavia car is the HHC system – an uphill start assist. Being activated during the start on a road gradient higher than five per cent, this system enables a comfortable and safe uphill start without applying the parking brake. The novelties also include the option to fit the car with an independent additional heater unit, an attractively priced Cruise navigation system, and a Dynamic sporty package that can include bucket seats, a leather-covered three-spoke sport-type steering wheel, a leather-covered handbrake grip and gear change lever knob, light-alloy 17‘‘ wheels, and a sports-tuned chassis. On the Superb cars, there are changes that make the car appearance even more attractive while extending the car’s comfortable equipment. An example of this is a revised guard of the central grid of the front bumper with a chromium-plated frame, new seat leather upholstery, introduction of the so-called net programme in the luggage compartment and the option of fitting a heated windscreen. The new technical features will include optimization of front axle brake assembly cooling, which will contribute to a higher comfort when braking extremely, and increase service life of brake disks. On the 2006 model year’s Škoda Fabia, Octavia, and Superb cars, the existing VIN label has been completed with a bar code on the windscreen underframe making it possible to automatically identify the vehicle by means of a reading device. On all model families, the range of exterior colours has been augmented with two new metallic tints: the Highland green and the Strom blue. |
